  1. Thanks for all your efforts with Fidelizer, I'll likely upgrade soon to the pro version. I have a question regarding running the program on a headless server. When the PC starts, I have a task that runs Fidelizer with the /s argument. My question is this: can I tell the program which level of optimization to run? Is there an argument for audiophile optimizations, or for extremist with networking? Thanks, Todd
  2. I'm also confused by the statement, but have been using a pair of filters on a RAID 0 pair of SSD for 2.5 years without any problems. Todd
  3. I've been using these for a while: Amazon.com: Yurbuds Ironman Focus Behind the Ear Performance Earloop Fit Sport Earphones, Black-10200: Cell Phones & Accessories they stay in place, have decent sound [not too bright, and fairly solid bass] and do block the outside noises fairly well. The biggest downside for me is that after 45+ minutes of wearing them, the piece that holds them in place starts to make my earlobes sore. not a big deal, but worth mentioning. overall, affordable and with above average sound for their price. And not so pricey that I mind sweating all over them! todd
  4. I've had this problem as well. Very frustrating. I my collection, it was mostly classical music that had long artist and title information from the initial rip to disk. I now use a string length limit [edit: in dbpoweramp] when ripping CD's to prevent this from being a continuing problem. todd ps if you care: [iFCOMP][album][]\[iFMULTI] - Disc [disc][]\[track]-[MAXLENGTH]30,[title][]-[MAXLENGTH]20,[artist][][iF!COMP][iFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][]\[iFMULTI] - Disc [disc][]\[track]-[MAXLENGTH]30,[title][]-[MAXLENGTH]20,[artist][]
  5. My curve is: 20 +3 1k 0 20k -6 I like bass, and seem sensitive to highs, flat from 20hz-1khz sounded shrill with most of my favorite music.
  6. I didn't do exhaustive comparisons. They sounded very similar though. It was as simple as toslink from PC to Behringer DEQ24/96 as it lacked coax input and I needed multiple EQ settings for my room correction. I now am running AudioVero's Acourate filters in JRiver's convolution engine and don't need the Behringer unit, and can use coax which gets me the ability to use up to 192khz sample rates vs toslink's 96khz limit. Long answer to a simple question, Todd
  7. I use the Xonar ST [PCI version] in my PC. I've used coax and toslink outputs. I'm very happy with the sound. I've tried connecting my Wyred 4 sound DAC-2 to the PC by USB to compare to the SPDIF inputs, but unfortunately I'm getting driver installation gremlins that don't allow me to listen via the USB input on my DAC. I'm very happy with the sound from this card, hope this helps. Todd
  8. dbPoweramp is the way to go on Windows IMO. You can also use SOX if you love the command line and batch files. Todd
  9. Yup, that's the typical default file path in windows, and the "local host" beginning is added whenever the itunes files are not where itunes expects them to be. To the OP, do try looking on your drives using windows explorer to find the files as suggested by the file path in your screen shot. Someone mentioned iLounge.com, it is a good resource. Another suggestion would be to download and run a file directory program such as windirstat, which can help you find your collection of audio files by sorting all your files by type and showing them graphically. Last thing i'd suggest is looking at your hdd data size in windows my computer. I.e. if you had 40gb of music, is windows still reporting the same amount od data on the hdd as before the issues began? I've had the same issue with itunes and windows, and it is always just itunes losing its point of reference with regards to where the files are stored. Hope this helps, Todd
  10. Maybe 10 dvd-a rips (thanks Chris) and 50 hirez album downloads 22,000 tracks. 930 gb, aiff format. 23 itunes songs... Todd
  11. 400W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151097 or 460W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151099 I built a machine with the 460 W, and aside from a slight buzz when my ear is right next to it, it is silent and cool. Prior to this PSU, I used an FSP branded 400W for 5 years without any issues. Todd
  12. Tonymacx86.com Several builds described and lots of discussion about compatible parts. I nearly did this for my music pc, but a discounted version of windows 7 came my way and i decided to go with a PC again. Todd
  13. Thanks for the info Chris, I figured you likely used OSX. Maybe I need to ask Santa to bring a Mac to my house in a few days... I'll have to google a bit to see if windows has some upper limit on file sizes. The computer I used is two months old, with 16GB of RAM and an i7 2600K CPU so I don't think resources were an issue. I tried saving the file to a HDD instead of my SSD in RAID0, with the same result, which to me took weird OCZ firmware issues off the list of possibilities. anyway, happy weekend everyone.
  14. I emailed tech support, and they emailed me individual links to each song. I could only get 4 downloads going at a time, so all 51 songs did take a bit of patience to obtain, but the individual .wav links worked like a charm. I'm not sure if the issue is on the topspin.net server side or if if is a windows7 issue with the large zip files. I'd be curious to know what OS Chris used to download his files, or if Billy C. just dropped them off personally since Chris is an industry insider todd
