There is no difference running the MBP with battery. The Mac Mini with an Ipad,an Ipod touch or Iphone is the more elegant solution with sound quality which is as good as with the MBP. I compared both (MPB 2010, Mac Mini 2010 with 8GB Ram) and opted for the Mac Mini way.

Hi, I think about buying the Duet 2. I liked the Duet but I sold it because wanted to either buy the Duet 2 or a highend hifi dac. So what do you think about the Duet 2 after a few weeks of listening? Are you still satisfied and what about the stability? I will use a mac mini with Snow Leopard and perhaps Lion later... And do you think it can compete withe the M2tech young for example? Thanks, Merlin

Why don't you use your Macbook Pro as a server? With InsomniaX you can use it just like a Mac Mini... Greetz...

So as Gordan said the 192/24 Ayre is available in the US and in 2 weeks in Europe and the price will go up 180 euros...

Thank you but I am not really handy and would propably destroy my amp. Perhaps I would get an Ayre Amp sometime in the future instead although the tubes are very "sexy" I think.... I just called an Ayre dealer and he said that at the moment he can only deliver the 96/24 DACs but that there will be an update. To upgrade the 96/DAC could be expensive as it is not only a software update according to the dealer... He will call me again when he knows when the new Ayre QB-9 will be available and I will let you know...

Hi, I am planning to build a Mac Mini Server and am interested in the Ayre QB-9. So would it be capable of playing 24/192 if I buy it now? And do you think it would make sense to buy the Ayre or would it make more sense to wait until more USB asynchronous dacs will be released (I don't think that Wavelength USB DACs are available here in Germany)? And regarding the Ayre: Is its sound superior to simlar priced dacs when not using the xlr outputs but the rca? I have a tube amp which doesn't have xlr... Thank you! This site is really nice...
