  1. I received an email from Network Acoustics speculating that my Innuos Switch is throttling back my MU2’s performance because it cannot pass more than 100mb/ps. I would be suspect about this, except I’ve heard it and read about it on a number of different blogs that the Grimm’s needs to be connected to 1gb port for best sonics. Supposedly, (not sure if this originated from Grimm), the MU’s sounds better with 1gb/ps. I don’t know of any have private residences actually have 1gb. I have maybe 500mg.
  2. This is still relevant to the Mu2 thread / topic as is directly related to data speed affecting Grimm’s audio. This Gb port stuff is confusing. So, It's not necessary about gigabyte speed, it’s about having a gigabyte port. So, to take this to the next logical step, the Tempus switch which I’m thinking of purchasing has a gigabyte port, but if upstream, my router doesn’t have a gigabyte port, then won’t it become the new log jam, holding the data rate back?
  3. I received an email from Network Acoustics speculating that my switch may be throttling back my Mu2’s sound. My switch is restricted to 100mg and I was told the Grimm sounds better with 1gb/ps. I don’t know have private residences actually have 1gb. I have maybe 500mg.
  4. My previous experience was that digital front ends benefited the most from power conditioning/filtering as they are generally the most noise susceptible components in the HiFi chain.
  5. Most most conditioners I’ve tried presented compromises. It appears several posters here found that Grimms didn't like power their conditioning . The Puritan was really my first conditioner that made across-the-board improved without any sacrifices. Now that being said, I will try my MU2’s AC power connected direct to wall. At this early stage, things are sounding a little veiled and opaque.
  6. The Mu2 is installed. Over the first 72 hrs it has flipped from good at one listen, than not so engaging on the next. I’ve always waited a month to create a final opinion. Most every DAC and streamer Ive owned, required a lot play to fully develop and the Mu2 has the additional analog preamp to break in. At this junction, the Mu2 displays a more up front presentation with bit more texture than my Pulsar, PhoenixUSB, Weiss DAC 204, and Holo Audio Serene combo, but the image density is not as fleshed out or focused at least yet. Definitely there is potential here. I need to run in the Mu2 and work my different shelf and footer options to dial it in.
  7. No doubt, manufactures are generally not keen on aftermarket fuses. Some of them are OK with it, like Innous. I’ve experienced significant improvement by upgrading my fuses to the overpriced, but effective Synergitic Research fuse. So, is this a 1A slow blow or fast blow in the Grimm.
  8. Anyone upgraded to a SR fuse in the Mu2, if so what value was it? Not sure if it’s a similar spec as what’s in the Mu1 which think was small / short 640ma fast blow.
  9. Wow, there is a lot to absorb on that thread. This was just what I was looking for. Thank you
  10. The reviews from the online audio journals have been so consistently over the top, that I had made a leap of faith and ordered a MU2, in the hope of it being a one box solution. As long as MU2 is, at least a lateral move sonically, I will be happy. I’m an older audiophile and music lover, and no longer a fan of crawling around snakes of cables and cleaning around shelves filled with audio chassises. My goal with the MU2 is to create shelve space, make a more manageable system and get rid of all the spaghetti without compromising the level of audio I have at this point. Hopefully my expectations are not too high. Regarding streamers that I’ve owned in the past, Roon did not sound nearly as good as the manufactures OS. This being said, companies like Taiko and Grimm that are highly regarded only offer Roon for their OS. I’m missing something, is it a more a matter of implementation or proper set up? I’ve read many of the posts on this thread. One thing that is obvious, Roon set up parameters affect the sound quality. I noticed that Taiko published Roon set up recommendations that applies to their streamers. Is there a compiled list of Roon settings for Grimm streamers, beyond what I see in the MU2 owners manual?
  11. It is a U.S version 115 V. I only see one fuse in the chassis by the transformer. Where is the second fuse? Thank you
  12. Is the fuse inside the DAC200 easily accessible? Anyone know the spec on the fuse?
  13. I’m ready to pull the trigger on this Synology NAS and the SS drives. Is this adequate performance for music files? I appreciate all the help. The specs on the NAS. 2 x 3.5/2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Drive Bays 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron J4025 Dual-Core 2GB DDR4 RAM
  14. I’m definitely in a neophyte regarding NAS set up. Even “define the shared folder/s” regarding Samba is not something I clearly understand, but I have basic computer knowledge and an older Mac mini I can use to configure this. I did see a NAS and a recommend 2TB drive available.: Synology 2 bay NAS DiskStation DS220+ $299. Western Digital 2TB WD Red SA500 NAS 3D NAND Internal SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5"/7mm $159. I would never have over 2 TB of CD rips and this modest combination would more than suffice, unless I’m missing something . This would be less expensive, almost $1000 less than a SonicTransporter and possibly perform just as well, leaving money for an upgraded Ethernet cable and power supply. I just would have to figure out how to configure Samba and assemble the NAS but I could probably find some YouTube videos. Is Samba a preferable simplicity wise, to minimServer?
  15. I went to the Samba site and I was lost in the configuration set up after the first sentence, it might as well be written in Latin to me. I’ve been told that in the near future, the Innuos will allow a USB drive to be plugged, yet, I was told that it would not sound as good as a NAS drive. What I don’t understand some people say digital storage all sounds the same all sound the same. so I decided I will not pursue USB as a playback storage yet I need something simple. I was hoping to connected someone who has compared a SonicTransporter to a NAS drive and found no difference in sound quality. I need to check with Small green computer, but I would think if a SonicTransporter is on a network that has access to the Internet, that meta-data would be updated when I rip a CD.
