  1. Hi Chang. Thanks. I will need o investigate these firmwares.... but unfortunately I must have 176.4 :-( Do you get this result (Audirvana up sampling signal 88.2, 192 are allowed but not 176.4) .... when using the exclusive + direct + integer mode ? (I would like to use the integer mode). "He offer me return in short period of time but I didn't. I'm quite enjoy the sound." Same for me. Kingwa offer return, even after he says not his fault. He is a good man. I do not return. Very very nice sound for the price.
  2. Thanks. I have found since my first post, that if I don't use direct/excluseive/integer mode, that I can control the bit depth through audio-midi control panel. This means than when I begin playback, it is using 32bit mode ... but then I change to 24bit, and the playback starts. Thanks for the info that this might be a problem on the audio-gd side. When I purchase my Audio-GD DIV3, I asked for the I2S expansion cable (which I have not used). I wonder if Kingwa supplied the "Firmware Number 4" already on my DI (so I can use I2S @ 32/384), and this is the cause of my problem. I suspect it might, becuase there are not more other people reporting this "issue". I will ask and report back.
  3. Hi everyone. Having trouble getting assistance on the Audirvana forums, so thought I'd see if anyone here knows my trouble. (Sorry if this has been covered before, I searched). Latest version of Audirava (I'd expect it applies to all versions though) I got myself a Audio-GD USB-SPDIF converter... which support 32bit depth. My DAC will only accept up to 24bit depth / 96khz sample rate Playing audio using the operating system audio-path (set to 24bit) behaves fine No matter what combination of Audirvana settings = no sound Using direct/exclusive/integer on, Audirvana GUI reports DAC 32/96 (obviously doesn't work) When these are off, Audirvana GUI reports 24/96 (or less without upsampling engaged) but no sound (I suspect it is still outputting 32bits ?!) Has anyone encountered this? I assume it would be a problem for any 32bit capable USB-SPDIFs feeding a 24bit DAC. Thanks for looking. _dave_
  4. I also build my own active speakers. This is very interesting to me. Do you have the USB input? or what do you use for your source?
  5. Thanks for your posts everyone. Just letting you know, that there are others out here reading and following your discussion with interest. I should have some time very soon to begin my experiments with HQPlayer/NAA, and perhaps XX. I do not have DSD play, so only PCM for now.
  6. I'm just installing it now ... it says: "Resolve an issue that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out." So it could do ?! :-) Apple updates usually don't give a truckload of detail so the fact it even mentions audio at all is promising.
  7. Thanks everyone. The DAC is definitely not the problem. (It has a 2v output) ... and the system works fine using a SPDIF out of a CD player. It's the PC that's the problem. I'm using XBMC on Linux, using the onboard coax SPDIF. I';ve got all the volumes in ALSA and XBMC turned up to 100% ... IS it right to say that if I turn any of these down from 100% that I'll be sacrificing resolution. The system sounds great, I just wish for a bit more range in the volume control. Have thought about fixed attenuator in the signal path, but I'd really like not to add components that will affect the SQ if possible.
  8. Hi everyone. First poster here. I have just bought a seperate DAC, pre and power amp... and they sound wonderful. The DAC is a MHDT Paradisea3, connected via my motherboards coax (and/or optical) SPDIF header. I am using XBMC on Linux, and I have my volume on the computer set to 100% ... and I have been lead to believe that not setting it to 100% will degrade the quality of the output. My problem is that when set this way, I reach max-blastage volume when the volume dial on my preamp is at 11 oclock (dial starts at 7) This means I have vastly reduced volume-knob range, and potential for "damaging output". Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do other than turn the volume down a bit on the PC? Will that really ruin the quality? Thanks in advance, Dave.
