I would highly recommend to go with a tube DAC. since you already have a SS amp, having a tube DAC will be a great add to the maggie 1.7. Currently I'm driving my 1.7 through Odyssey Audio Kismet monoblock amps (Solid State) Connected to Monarchy Audio Tube DAC. I was thinking for an upgrade to my DAC and I auditioned the Alpha DAC and Bryston BDA-1 DAC in my system and I felt that there was no synergy with the maggie compared to the Monarchy, there are many pros and cons but a tube DAC with the maggie 1.7 will provide fuller mids ,better 3d effect and bloom compared to a solid state DAC. Jonathan Valin from TAS wrote a good review about the maggies and how they performed with his ARC 610 tube amp compared to the SS amps he have, it might give you an indication. check his blog.
