  1. From what I gather the Mac wont upsample past DSD 128. Amanero are supposedly working on a new firmware which may allow for this in the future
  2. I've done both and do slightly prefer the HQP upsampling however I could quite happily live with Roon doing the upsampling for me from PCM to DSD. The only reason Im running HQP is that I use a humming board as a NAA which currently is configured for Roon as an end point, will be soon though, then I may switch over to Roon full time to do the upsampling
  3. I use a Hattor myself with Tekman Rey resistors, I went for the larger one and can't fault it, very very transparent in my system and works really well with valve mono blocks
  4. Just downloaded the beta version and couldn't get it to play with Roon on my Mac, the previous version plays fine, anyone else experienced issues running with Roon?
  5. Cheers mate will go hunting to see if I can find anything
  6. Hi Wisnon Do you have a picture or a link to this tube please, I am in the process of putting together a shopping list for the rectifier in my own Atlantic and would like to obtain one of the tubes Very best Lee
  7. Cheers Peter for the info, I think for the time being I'm going to run with my Mac mini and hold fire for the time being on the SMS 200.
  8. Has anyone used a hard drive plugged into the back of the SMS 200? does the hard drive need to be powered?
  9. Erik Truffaz - Bending New Corners, fantastic album and well recorded Clark Terry - The Alternate Blues album, awesome album from a stellar line up, very well recorded as well
  10. Ive been looking at the SMS 200 to use in conjunction with my mac mini. Ive been running Roon and HQ Player on the same mac and have managed to upsample PCM to DSD 128 and Im quite happy with the sound quality. I was contemplating using the Mac Mini to run HQP and the SMS 200 to run Roon. Am I correct in thinking that my Dac would be connected to the SMS 200? If so does the Mac Mini connect to the network via Ethernet to enable HQ Player to encode the tracks and the get played back through the SMS200 which is also connected to the network via Ethernet? Any help much appreciated Lee
  11. I had a bizarre issue last night, I have been using HQP and Roon quite successfully all be it the demo version. I loaded up a DSD album to play, the first track played at normal volume but the second track there was a noticeable reduction in volume. I tried another DSD album and the same happened again. If I played the second track of the album on its own the volume went back to normal, any ideas as to what could be the issue? Lee
  12. Hi Miska Changed to what you said and I'm now getting DSD128, nice one Lee
  13. Hi Miska Thanks for the response and I will try out what you said. If this doesn't help me out would I need to get a more recent Mac mini with a better processor ? Lee
