  1. Trialling Qobuz Studio Premier with Roon. Ive been using Tidal Hifi stream with Roon for a year or so with no issues. Twice now in 3 days, Qobuz has frozen/ hung with an error message saying “ this track is not available on Qobuz” or words to that affect. Only cure is to reboot the Mac Mini. my system is........ BT Ultrafast fibre. 2015 MacMini as the Roon endpoint, wired to the router. Optical cable to a Bel Canto DAC. So far, I’m liking Qobuz for its sound quality, the amount of Hi-Res albums & the lack of promotion of music which I detest, as per Tidal. However, if the freezing issue is a common problem, I’ll have to stick with Tidal. I assume this is a Qobuz or Qobuz/Roon interface issue. Has anyone else encountered the same thing?
  2. Point taken. I’ve been an Audirvana user for a fair few years now. Always preferred it to the competition. However, my tolerance for “one step forwards, Two steps backwards” is pretty limited. Even if the newest iteration sounded better, if it mucks up the library & I can’t get it sorted out after a few good hours of trying, it’s not for me. Disappointing & frustrating in equal measure.
  3. Given up on 3.5. Gone back to 3.2.16 & the issue, where several albums were split into most tracks one one album with 2 or 3 songs on another copy has gone. Shame, but 3.5, even the latest version had too many bugs in it for me. Several hours of checking settings, re-syncing the library etc etc did not cure it. Change for changes sake.
  4. Having just upgraded to the latest version, I’ve noticed that several albums now seem to be split in two, with the majority of tracks on one album & then a duplicate with 3 tracks on it. Never had this with Audirvana plus. I might try re-syncing with my iTunes library to see if that cures it. Anyone else experienced this & if so what’s the cure?
  5. Quick question about the Tidal "integration" within Audirvana........ Does the Graphic EQ work for music selected from Tidal, or only for tracks stored in my library? Sorry for being a bit dim!
  6. Thanks for the input Ralf, appreciated. Certainly some good stuff there to mull over!
  7. Ralf, just playing around with options really. My MacMini is getting on a bit & just thinking about replacing it with a dedicated quality streamer rather than a multi-purpose computer. As all my cd’s are ripped & stored on an external usb HD, ideally I’d love to just plug that into whatever I buy next rather than have to re rip it all! In my original post, I did hint at asking for opinions between the two. I’ve read that a dedicated streamer is better than a Mac/DAC combo. Why Naim in particular? Well via a friend of a friend etc, I may be able to get a Uniti Core at a very good price. I’ve heard cheaper streamers such as Bluesound Node2 & Aurelic mini & didn’t immediately hear improvement over my Mac/DAC. So I thought going further up the ladder may bring more obvious benefits? The build quality, looks, the app & brand reputation appeal the me, rather than a flavour of the month type brand. If I can’t transfer my existing library onto whatever unit I buy next, I’ll just stick with a newer MacMini.
  8. Thanks for the link to the Naim page. That helps. Unless I can find a way of copying my existing HD library content onto a blank formatted-for-Uniti HD, it looks like I’ll be sticking with what I have. I can’t be bothered to re-rip all my cd’s onto another system. Although Tidal covers a lot of my library, I still have quite a few cd’s that aren’t available on any streaming systems. Oh well............................
  9. Presently I’m using a MacMini into a Jolida DAC. Thinking about going over to a dedicated streamer, as opposed to using the MacMini. My library is stored AIFF on a usb HD. My question is .....if I plug this HD in to the uniti core, will it be able to access & read it (upnp) or does it have to be formatted specifically for the naim? I assume that’s what upnp is all about, but just thought I’d check here before making myself look daft in front of a Hifi dealer! While I’m at it, has anyone gone from a Mac to a Uniti? Interested in knowing what others think of this idea.
  10. If possible, beg/steal/borrow a Bluesound Node2. This streamer/DAC is fully MQA compatible & is a surprisingly decent unit, especially considering its price. This will allow you to Trial Tidal & fully decoded MQA to decide for yourself. Ah, just seen your latest post, Tidal not being your primary interest. I'd still trial it (for free) though to get a handle as to what MQA/Tidal can give you.
  11. I'm told there will be some good deals over the weekend at Sevenoaks. Sonos, TV & blue-ray packages, as well as deals on Bluesound. I'm guessing that any item not specifically listed in the Black Friday offers section would still be open to some kind of deal on the day. Whilst I agree that the whole Black Friday thing is another unnecessary Americanism creeping over to good old Blighty, it seems that if shops don't take part in it, they would lose quite a bit of trade.
  12. Thanks for the replies. At least it’s not me being stooopid. Maybe in time Audirvana will incorporate a masters indicator similar to Tidal’s M icon.
  13. When I’m viewing Tidal (via audirvana) on my iPad, & there’s multiple copies of the same album, what’s the quickest/easiest way to tell which copy is mqa as opposed to 16/44 quality? Selecting a copy to play & then looking at the bottom of the screen to find out seems a bit long winded. Apologies for my numptiness!!
  14. Thanks for the reply. Its been a very long winded process, but by opening up the metadata window & changing the artists names in there to suit my filing system, I managed to get to where I wanted to be, i.e. Alphabetical by surname. Still cant work out why rattle & hum by U2 was stuck between kd Lang & athlete though! By adding a full stop after the album name, it allowed me to click on save, whereby U2 were placed alphabetically correctly. it seems half my collection was way out of sync for some reason, but it's all sorted now.
  15. I may well be being a bit dim here, but HELP needed! My music library in audirvana plus, 3.1.4 is not alphabetically correct, when "album view" is selected. For example, it starts off fairly well with a few compilation cd's, followed by albums by bands such as Alabama3 & Athlete. But then I get a KD Lang album, followed by U2s Rattle & Hum. I then get a block of albums with band names starting with B & then C, but then randomly I've got XTC, followed by Jackson Browne, Cannonball Adderley, Elgar & then another kd Lang. Is there a way of re-ordering them? In "Album view options", I have sorting by Album Artist in ascending direction selected. What am I doing wrong?
