1. I have a pair of Burmester B10 speakers on desktop speaker stands made by Isoacoustics. The speakers sounded great on their own, but I wanted more in the lower end. My dealer recommended an E-series JL subwoofer. It works beautifully.
2. I see from my post above that my update to my system has not changed. I have moved onto other gear, for the most part, than I see listed here.
3. Sorry, I'm new to all this but have loved audiophile gear for a long time. I currently have a desk-based system as my second system. I have space restrictions. I went ahead with a Naim-based system - the Core as my CD ripper & main store, a model 272 preamp/streamer, and a 250DR amp. I've just added a Chord Dave to the mix. For speakers, I have a pair of Burmester B10s connected to my amp with a pair of Crystal Cable Reference cables. The speakers sit on a pair of Isoacoustics stands. My iMac is connected to the Dave with an Audioquest Diamond USB cable. The Core is connected to the Dave with a Siltech BNC-terminated digital cable. I also have a pair of Focal Utopia headphones. With the Dave, things are sounding pretty amazing. The speakers are great and I would highly recommend them.
4. My stereo system has changed considerably. I'll have to update it.
5. Hello - I just connected my iMac to my new DAC, Dave by Chord. I'm using an Audioquest Diamond USB cable. Sounds quite good. I have yet to try my headphones (Focal Utopia) with the DAC. I also have a Naim Core connected to the Dave by a Siltech Golden Eagle BNC-terminated cable. Sounds really good. I imagine the sound quality will get even better as things settle in.
6. My DACport arrived today. My first impression was - boy, is this thing small. Nice build quality though. Streamlined. USB in one end, headphones out the other. The sound? Very limited listening so far, but I like what I'm hearing. I've been using a Weiss DAC202 in my "portable" system, one that I would set up at a favourite coffee shop on weekends. Great sound, layers of detail to music, air around instruments - you name it. However, I'm getting tired of lugging the 202 around, the power and firewire cable, my MBP and assorted other cables, etc. People look at my table, many bemused, wondering what the hell I'm doing. Set-up and taking down takes about 7 minutes each. The DACport is a nice, small & wonderful sounding device. Set-up is as simple as can be. It's certainly not the same as listening to the 202, but I hardly expected it to be. However, I love the fact that the DACport actually sounds good, and is hardly noticeable. The 202 is of course a much more expensive device, and does sound better overall, but it should given the price & build quality. For what it does, however, the DACport is a bargain.
7. At the end of each track, I get the message "Player Stopped" - this includes tracks that are supposed to be gapless. So, one track finishes, and there's a break between it and the next one when there shouldn't be. Often there's also a clicking noise between these tracks. Most annoying. I like AyreWave, but not if this is going to happen all the time.
8. Who said anything about preferring my Naim DAC to my Weiss 202? I use them in different applications. Both sound good. For computer playback I use the Weiss. I have tried Amarra, Pure Music and AyreWave - at the moment, I'd have to say AW is at the top of the heap. Sorry if I've stepped on your toes, but I certainly don't think my opinion is questionable. I do question your odd reply & motive, though. You wouldn't happen to be an Amarra dealer by any chance?
9. I've listened extensively to Amarra, and have logged in several listening hours with AyreWave. Sorry, but Amarra isn't sonically superior to AW. More bells & whistles, perhaps, but not necessarily a better product than AW. As for the parametric equalizer in Amarra - try making a few adjustments and see what happens to the sound of the track being played - for the most part, I'd say sonic degradation. I'm listening to some files right now with AW, and can hear more of the music than I recall hearing with Amarra. I haven't given up on Amarra - I paid $995 for it, and hopefully Sonic Studio will continue to refine their product.
10. I'm using AW with my MacBook Pro & a Weiss DAC202. Initially I thought AW sounded shrill, but after more listening, that's not really the case. I also have the full versions of Amarra & Pure Music. Amarra is a pain at times, I feel, not only because of the draconian requirement of a dongle in order for it to work, but also with the equalizer function, where minute changes can lead to a completely different sound, and not necessarily for the better. We'll see what changes are coming from Sonic Studio. With regard to Pure Music, I quite like the sound & have been doing most of my listening with it. However, that may change - I'm starting to like the sound of AW, and this is only a Beta version.
11. Maybe this is a dumb question, but here goes. In my main system, I use a Naim HDX. I'd like to be able to listen to the same music being played on my main system in another room, at the same time. Can I do that with the Touch? If not, any ideas how I might accomplish this?

Thanks.
12. I own a 202, and I must say that I don't consider it "butt ugly." I like the looks of it, and the size & shape of it. I use it as my portable DAC - I take it with me for computer audio playback when I plan on sitting in, say, my favourite coffee shop for a few hours. I wouldn't want a rack-sized unit. As for the sound - absolutely wonderful both with standard CD quality & hi-res files.
