Here's a quick update after having the Synology DS415+ installed in my home for a couple of weeks. It is working great with the playback of my music through the use of the Roon software. With all of my music, home videos, family photos, movies and music videos uploaded to the NAS, I am only at 10 percent use! I have one additional question for the members here... What is the best way to playback my concert dvd's and blurays through my stereo system. I uploaded them to the DS415+ as MKV files using the Make MKV software. I'm not sure how to get my Wavelength Cosecant Dac and Mac Mini to recognize these files. Thanks everyone for the great advice and answers surrounding my NAS journey! I am so glad that I went this route instead of buying another external hard drive.

Thanks for the information! I'm trying to download Java SE 8, but I get an error message stating that the name has to be the same as the link. My Synology is prompting for me to download Java SE7 which is no longer the latest version. I wish they had a help line!

Hi Folks, My Synology 415+ arrived today! I have installed 3 x 4TB Western Digital Reds in the NAS. The installation was pretty painless thus far. I still need to find out how to set up the RAID. Sbank, do you use your 415+ solely for audio playback or does it handle other functions for you?

After much reading on the various NAS options, I have narrowed it down to purchasing a Synology DS414Slim or a DS415 Play. Which one is the best option for my audio system? I appreciate your feedback!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Sbank! I wound up returning the QNAP after reading more feedback on the forum that Synology is more intuitive for beginner's to setup. I am considering a DS414slim or a DS411. I guess either would work for my needs.

What 2TB, 2.5 hard drive would be good option to put into my existing Oyen Mini Pro enclosure? Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your responses! Much appreciated. I visited MicroCenter today and spent a good bit of time with one of their employees understanding a NAS setup. After having it broken down for me, it might not be as intimidating a setup as I initially thought it was. I ended up purchasing a QNAP TS-231 with 2 x 3TB WD Red drives. I will let you guys know how it works out. Wish me luck!

Hi folks, I currently have a 1TB Oyen Mini Pro that has worked great as a storage device for my music files hooked up to my Mac Mini. I never thought I would run out of space on that drive, but now that I have been ripping my vinyl collection to high res files, it has filled up pretty quickly. I have read on this forum that the Oyen 2TB does not receive the same high marks as the 1TB version, so I would like to know a highly recommended 2TB external hard drive that is quiet and reliable. I'm not very computer savvy,so the NAS option feels way over my head. All feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I recently set up a secondary system in my bedroom. It consists of a 2010 Mac Mini, a Wavelength Brick Dac V3 and Tannoy DC6 speakers. The problem that I am running into is that my Remote App on my iPhone and iPad only recognizes my main system that consists of a 2011 Mac Mini and the I-Tunes library associated with it. Is it possible to set up the Remote App to recognize both Mac Mini/ITunes libraries or do I need to download another app, such as Rowmote, to use for the second system? Thanks in advance for your assistance with this.
