1. Like the idea about C.A.R.S list. Especially the "Suggestion" part. One thing I REALLY like about CA is the fact that there is so little "forum discussion" and "I have better equiptment than you" posts. No other hifi related forums I've been thru have this proffesional approach to things.. Of cause one cares keeping it that way:-) But I think it's a rellay nice initiative and I would like to throw in a coupple of things.. Cheers Kris
 2. Hi CA folks! The setup is Peachtree iNova and Pro-Ject Stream Box DS. Connected via Wireworld Starlight Coax. The problem is that i can hear some clicking noise in the spearkers. (like the sound from a good old vinyl) I've tried different Coax and different sources with no problems. Of cause the unit could be faulty, but I've heard about the problem with other devices as well. Could that be something electrical with the Coax communication? Thanks a million Kris
 3. I think if you wanna go "all in" with your High End system in mind you have to move further than a Computer can do. There is lot's of test here in CA that claims that. Budget system could be a Pro-Ject Stream Box DS with a NAS and a good 24/192 DAC. The Full monty is the digital dream system from MSB Technology the Universal Player with separate PSU and the MSB Platinum DAC IV Then you will hear digital music beyond any CD-player from this planet:D Good luck Kris
 4. Platinum comes up for a test against Starlight next week on my system! Do you have any link to the issue regarding USB fw-direct cabling? Need to get my cabling in order:-) Thx Kris
 5. Thanks for your ideas. @drystream..that looks complicated:D. @Eloise XLD is really a cool software Didn't know that..thanks:-) but i'm run in to a problem. Here is an exampel: 96/24 ALAC file converted to Aiff stored on HDD (in XLD setup you can set bitrate to same as original) Output folder is same as input and original ALAC file is deleted after process. When I play my new Aiff file through iTunes "no problem" But when i play through my stream box with HDD connected thru USB, it makes some wery bad crackely "bit" noises. XLD states that it can do an excact copy, but something is going wrong! It sounds like when Midi samplerate on Mac is to high or low, but this is not the case.. Thanks for reading. Cheers Kris
 6. Hi, I have a 1tb ext. HDD with music in ALAC wich I would like to convert to Aiff so I can connect it to my Project Stream Box DS (wich dosn't support ALAC)I'm looking for a solution around iTunes cos then I have to import/export wich I thinks is goin to be a hassle! The music on the HDD is not identical with the iTunes lib. I have scanned the internet for a solution without luck.. In a dream world it should be a software program that copy/paste my entire HDD and auto converted into aiff:D Any help is much appriciated. Thanks Kris
 7. Hi Eloise, thanks for your answer.. NAS could be a solution, they are just a bit noisy hense the TC. I also need to be able to sync in a simple way, i've looked into supersync.com and i think i'm gonna try it out tonight. The best solution in the end for me would be NOT to have the Mac switched on to listen to music, but still use it as my main "music storach/library..iTunes etc.. Problem is if I stored my complete music library on the TC it needs to be with a different program than iTunes cos i makes hard to enter from streaming device, probaly also because TC is not a "real" NAS..but let's see. I'm looking into trying Request Media sync solution as well..many hours of work ahead:-) Thanks again Kris
 8. I'm looking for the best solution to stream from iMac to Project StreamBox DS. System is setup in this way.. Imac-Time capsule-StreamBox all wired network cable. Music library is iTunes stored on the iMac. Problem is that iTunes will not let you access the music thru DNLA. Seems like Twonkey Media would be the only solution..but is there any other? Maybe some type of software that mirrow the iTune lib. so it accesable at my network? Thanks CA people Kris from Denmark!
 9. And talking about vinyl, there is no doubt in my mind that vinyl is far beyond digital it dosen't work in 0 and 1's and has a greater bandwith so my way of getting Hi-res files in Denmark is to play my vinyls in to computer thru riaa with usb etc..
But as a hi-fi importer i am allways in the seek of new ways to do things better, that's why Computeraudiophile is a good place to hang around. And digital music as files on servers/mediaplayers and so on is the future no one uses CD's in 10-15 years or less, the thing has not evolved since birth in "82-83" still compressed and bad jitter, that what makes Hi-res audio interresting.
What we need is just a more user friendly/interactive way of getting our music into the system in those 192/64 and i don't think Steve Jobs is planing on that at the moment, they all thinking about new player gadget and gismos instead of making the music sound better...YEAH it's getting religious now, but my point is that we need to get more music available in Hi-res and for the industry it's all about money and copyright so it could be a long one..but of course i'll be ready.
Sorry for spelling mistakes i'm not a native:-)

Best regards

Kristian
Copenhagen/DK
 10. Jonathan i think you have a point there. My own thoughts about this subject is the same as your's. At this point i'm in the middle of testing Amarra and you don't get all the benifits of different high-end DAC's playing digital music with 44.1/16 material as if you play high-res files, now i am from Denmark and we don't have any access to high-res download in Europe legally!:-)
Because of that i will hold my horses regarding exspensive players.
I'm sure that we within some years will see more and more ways of playing hi-res files and hopefully more artist will go the same way..

There is also some technical difs and hard work to go complete digital
but that's the way being pioneers.

NB: Thanks to Chris for a always deep and investigated review

Kristian from
Copenhagen/DK
