  1. Got it, thanks, the generivpc version is working fine
  2. This looks similar to the error I'm getting running the latest version on Ubuntu (Signalyst HQPlayer Embedded v4.26.2): hqplayerd[375522] trap invalid opcode ip:298369e sp:7fff3bc511b0 error:0 in hqplayerd[23d0000+858000] The previous version I was using before (Signalyst HQPlayer Embedded v4.25.0) works just fine. Anything I can do to fix the error?
  3. I bought mine from Electromod a few weeks ago: top notch service. Send Mark an email and ask him when the Yggy is back
  4. Here are my impressions of the Regen I received a few weeks ago. This little box is a fantastic match with my Lector DigicodeS192, I'm completely blown away by the improvement it brought in my system. The sound is much more relaxed, smoother, grain free, the bass, which may sound a bit loose, has better definition and articulation. The strongest points of this DAC, like the rich midrange and meaty vocals, are still there. Before getting the Regen I already demoed a Schhit Yggrdasil and decided to sell the Lector. In fact I bought the Yggy just a few days before receiving the Regen, but should have waited LOL, the Lector and the Regen are a wonderful match. On the Yggy the difference is less evident, to the point I'm not even sure there's a difference, I need to listen more carefully in the next weeks. Now I have to DAC which I like a lot :-) I think the Regen in the right context is possibly one of the best upgrades out there
  5. Not sure if this has been asked before, can I mount a network folder (shared using NFS) on the SMS-100 and use MPD as player, avoiding DLNA?

Thanks for the quick turnaround: the new build works perfectly, and indeed sounds great.

    HQ Player

Thanks for the update. @Miska: could you please email me the same build you've sent Chodi, as I have the same problem? Thanks

    HQ Player

That's good to know. I haven't spent much time recently with my audio equipment, and didn't notice anything. I'm not upsampling to DSD though.

That's exactly what I'm experiencing, currently I have reverted to 3.6.0. Same OS, FWIW
  10. Sometime it happens to me too, if I start the SOtM before turning the router on. No need to reboot the SOtM though, I simply unplug the ethernet cable, either on the SOtM or the router side
  11. Question for Jesus: is there going to be a package update for the NAA? Signalyst has just released a new version of the daemon, 3.0.0 I think
  12. You know what? I've never tried HQP without NAA. I used to use the SOTM as DLNA renderer, and only a few months ago I decided to try it as NAA. Initially I wasn't happy with the sound quality, I didin't find the right filter for my dac, the Metrum Hex. To me the SOTM sounds very good, I preferred it to JRiver/Jplay for example, using a CAPS with linear PSU. My DAC though, doesn't use the 5v from the PC/NAA, and I use a USB cable that does't carry the 5V at all. I remember Chris review saying the SOTM worked really well with the Ayre QB-9, another DAC that doesn't use the 5v from the host, which incidentally I own before getting the Hex. I'm very very happy with this configuration to be honest.
  13. Yep, that is a pretty different configuration! I've got the feeling the LPS is the key here: every time I've replaced a switch psu with a linear one I've noticed a good improvement: pc, router, switch, naa etc etc. They don't have, I think, direct impact on the sound, on the way bits are transfered, but on the rest of the audio equipment connected to the same ring. When I've got some spare time (and money!) i'll build a naa using an Atom board with DC input, which I'll power with the same PSU I'm using for the SOTM
  14. My experience seems different: I've installed the NAA software on a Mac mini 2010 running Debian and compared against a SOTM sms100. The sotm is powered by a linear psu, the mini uses a ssd and I've also removed the fan, leaving it without the bottom cover. No dedicated psu. To my ears, the sotm sounds effortless, with the mini being more nervous, with better instrument separation and harsh top end. Strings sound very strident. After an hour listening to some string quartets had to switch back to the sotm.
