  1. This is only to answer the question, "if you buy digital music from places such as HDTracks and Music Giants, do you get music the same quality as xrcd since you skip the whole cd process altogether" As stated previously it depends: Not naming anyone in particular, the high res digital downloads can and do things differently depending on what is available and I guess time: I have found the following: 1) Back to source or master tape and then to 24/96 2) Vinyl to 24/96 (with surface noise) 3a) SACD to Analog (via who know's what player) to 24/96, and 3b) SACD to 24/88.2 direct rip (though there is no such thing, it still is not DSD) 4) DVDA to 24/96 digital (so you get what the DVDA Author did) 5) DVDA to 24/192 digital (Ditto) So as you can see it is all over the map.
  2. Joel,<br /> <br /> Start here:<br /> <br /> http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=(format:(24Bit%20FLAC)%20OR%20(flac24)%20OR%20(24-bit)%20OR%2024bit)%20AND%20collection:etree<br /> <br /> Lot of music is 24 Bit at either 48 or 96. Sometime they record at 24/96 but then put it up at CD Red book.<br /> <br /> I have downloaded quite a bit of 24/96 from great bands and most if really good. Typically two or 4 mikes and up front. So it really feels live.<br /> <br /> Good luck.<br />
  3. No sorry it does not do multichannel. 2 channel only. I have many a multi channel system but they are mainly for video and games.<br /> <br /> <br /> Here is the link:<br /> <br /> http://www.decware.com/newsite/homepage.html<br /> <br /> I have their SET Zen Amp and the DAC<br /> <br /> http://www.decware.com/newsite/ZDAC1.html<br /> <br /> Trust me I have been though many a DAC including ARC, PS Audio, Musical Fidelity etc, and this one bests them all.<br /> <br /> M.<br />
  4. Having supported by actually buying DVD-Audio, SACD, (and prior DAT, and almost ElCasette) I have no desire to support any other format.<br /> <br /> I have a super high end DAC that can take in anything from any port (including usb) and play it. Yes even 24/192.<br /> <br /> So I fully support high res music from various places. Even Blu Ray for that matter if it is lossless. I stay clear from lossy.<br /> <br /> But even though I have two PS3 which in theory play blu ray .. For music sorry it it not a viable option.<br /> <br /> So I support High Res music but give me the choice of formats or else keep it. I can find it elsewhere. Given that we pay for it, someone will deliver.
  5. I can do 24/96 and 24/192 at home with Roland Edirol or even TASCAM ...<br /> <br /> This is just wasting my time and $ on rubbish.<br /> <br /> Go to link below and get free 24/96 of bands ...<br /> <br /> http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=24/96%20AND%20collection:etree<br /> <br />
  6. Use Foobar2000 it will do it all. MLP - wave - flac - mp3 in any direction including 5.1 to downmix etc. M.
  7. For a sound card that puts out 24/192 (or less) check out this link. I have not tried it but am seriously considering it: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=24%2F192+pci I have a E-MU 0404 It puts out 24/96 on the SPDIF. However, it stops there. 24/192 it DECODES via the analog out not SPDIF. You can get 24/192 material from some DVD-Audio discs (Eagles Hotel California), ELP Brain Salad Surgery etc. Or you can buy some from Linn Records: http://www.linnrecords.com/catalogue.aspx Select Studio Master 192 from drop down list. Ok now I have a Musical Fidelity VDAC which and decode up to 24/96 on USB. I have it on sale on ebay (sale pending) and replacing it with a DECWARE ZDAC which can do everything on all inputs (Coax, Optical, USB all upto 24/192). http://www.decware.com/newsite/whatsnew.html
