  1. Poly-sinc-gauss-xla works fine for me at 1x from 24/48 to DSD512x48 and ASDM7EC-super 512+fs. Multicore enable, ecores filter, nblocs default. Edited: might be you could try resetting from fresh instead of restoring your backup setting and see if it works
  2. HQPE OS 5.5.2 works fine for me and performance is the same as 5.5.1. There is 1 minor issue I found is filter / modulator could still be changed real-time via web interface. However, those new filter / modulator will not be updated in Roon status. Roon still shows the filter / modulator that was set in configuration.
  3. I think he mentioned that he found the issue that make Sinc-MG(a) works but Sinc-Mx dropouts in many system. He correct the issue in this new release but it means from now Sinc-MG(a) will also dropout in system that Sinc-Mx dropouts. 😅
  4. Agreed. It is still system and preference or sometimes even listening mood dependence. Having more available configurations provides more choices for all of us. I might end up using DSD512 mainly and DSD1024 occasionally...
  5. Totally agreed on this. From technical standpoint, which one is the better one at high rate (like DSD1024) between AMSDM7EC 512+fs and AHM7EC5L? Thanks
  6. That's the reason why I'm have been trying to achieve DSD1024 with ASDM7EC-light/ul even though there were AMSDM7EC 512+fs / AHM available. I do remember you mentioned before that you don't see the need to have anything lighter than the ASDM7EC-ul. However, I think for a minor group of passive cooling fans, a lighter ul version will be really nice, though. Thank you
  7. Thank you, Miska. I do understand AMSDM is quite different than ASDM. I saw some graphs comparing the AMSDM7EC 512+fs vs the ASDM7ECv2 and similar graphs comparing the ASDM7EC-super vs ASDM7EC-super 512+fs before. However, I have not seen any graph showing how the ASDM7EC-light/ul or the 2 new AHMs work. The 2 new AHM modulators do not sound good to my preference. They are a bit less details and less dynamic although they just need about 3.9GHz max CPU clock for DSD1024. With the e-cores filter offloading works so well these days, if there is something like the ASDM7EC-ul "further light" that allows max CPU clock at about 4.4GHz, heat will be much more managed for those using 13xxxK/14xxxK CPU in passive cooling case that want to try DSD1024.
  8. Hi @Miska, Understood the modulator AMSDM7EC 512+fs has been developed for quite sometimes, how good is it comparing to the much later like ASDM7EC-light / ASDM7EC-ul? On my system, for DSD1024, the AMSDM7EC 512+fs only needs max core clock of 4.2GHz while ASDM7EC-ul needs 4.7GHz and the ASDM7EC-light needs at least 4.8GHz to be able to run without dropouts.
  9. With HQPE OS 5.5.1, my heavily underclock, undervolt i7-14700K in HDPlex H3V3 passive cooling case finally can do upsampling from 24/48 to DSD1024x48 with poly-sinc-gauss-long / ASDM7EC-Light; multicore=enable and ecores=filter. 8 P-cores run max clock = 4.8GHz, 12 E-cores run at max based clock = 2.5GHz. Power consumption is really low with PL1 = 59W / PL2 = 65W. CPU temperature after 1 hr is about 71-72oC but case temperature are cooler than before (might be because the CPU temp was read from the 2 main load P-cores which most of the time are running at 4.8GHz) Above setting can also do 24/48 to DSD1024x48 with poly-sinc-gauss-xla/ASDM7EC-Light but CPU temp will be about 75oC after about 1 hr.
  10. Hi @Miska, You mention that your Ryzen 5800x rig was replaced by a 14900k. Do you still have any Ryzen 7xxx test rig? I wonder if for stereo, will it be better to go with single chiplet (less core) CPU like 7700x or with dual chiplet 7900x (more core)? Will there be any performance difference for HQPE OS to manage the load distribution for these 2 different CPU (beside the number of tasks on different number of cores)? Thanks
  11. I'm using my 12700K in passive cooling case so my settings are trying to get best balance between temperature and performance. Therefore, my settings might not be what majority of active cooling users want to try, I think.
  12. @Miska: it turned out that either HQPe OS or the mainboard got confused due to my CPU clock, power setting changing in the MSI Z690M motherboard Bios. Physical Power cycling everytime after changing CPU clock, CPU PL1/2, CPU voltage will resolve the issue.

I managed to solve the heat issue of my passive 12700k. Now it can do 24/48 to DSD1024x48 with Poly-sinc-gauss-long/AMSDM7EC 512+fs and CPU temperature is stable at about 65oC with ecores=filter after 1hr. Ecores=pool give slightly better result st about 2oC cooler with the same settings.
  14. @Miska: I saw below behaviour on the HQPE OS 5.5.0: I set ecores = filter via configuration tab in Web interface. The CPU load was distributed nicely on the P-cores and I can do 24/48 to DSD1024x48 with poly-sinc-gauss-long/AMSDM7EC 512+fs. Every time I reboot the HQPE OS machine, the core load was distribute off-balance on the P-cores and I got dropouts every ~20s. Open the configuration tab in Web interface and click appply (no need to change anything else), the cpu load was again ditributed nicely and I can run with dropouts free until the next reboot. Not sure if there is anything I can check or adjust. Thanks

I use the SSD as an example where I can use Samsung software to monitor it when still using Windows OS. I don't need the SSD now. It is the same ambient temperature all other components inside the case seeing beside the SSD. The heat sink at the side of the case is just one component of the passive cooling system. There are heat transfer efficiency between CPU, CPU heat block, heatpipes, the case fins, etc. I think this goes beyond the contents discuss in this topic so I will not discuss further about the passive case anymore. Sorry for creating too much of off-topic discussion. 😊 The reason why I mentioned about the 75+ temperature is to report that with HQP 5.5.0 it is almost possible to do DSD1024x48 with other EC modulator rather than just the EHM5EC/EHM7EC with underclock 12700K. Will continue to try all available options before upgrading the case (case size does matter, though).
