  1. I have both the P1A and P3A together with a Modright PS, bought new, about twenty years ago. They handle red book very well. They can't handle hi-res files, which is why I now have them in a second system. With regards to reliability, I have had trouble free service since I got them. I have left them on all the time except when going on holiday. So they have been turned on for twenty years and have never given trouble.
  2. https://www.ciunas.biz/product-page/iso-ps-ultracapacitor-power-supply?message_id=4f82ddc8-00d1-4b7a-a95a-dde9d7bc3847 John Kenny of Ciunas has some very interesting products. His are all battery run power supplies. They certainly improved my system by using one of his Dacs. I had a Meridian 500 dac and wanted to get music, from my PC, which I had downloaded. I got a dac from John for playback from USB. That is now my preferred way to listen to music. I still listen to vinyl by the way but wound up ripping nearly all my cd's and use John's dac for playback.
  3. I received my LPS-1.2 about three weeks ago. I had to pay custom's duty on it coming into Ireland. I have had three orders from UpTone prior to this and customs did not bother with them. Is this a portent of things to come from Trump's America. Anyway back to to the LPS-1.2. It is an exceptional product. It replaced a LPS-1 driving an IsoRegen. The effect was of the same order as putting a LPS-1 in the system. The sound is more powerful. It is more three dimensional. The detail retrieval has improved. When the clarinet comes in on Dave Brubeck 's ' Take Five' the breath on the reed is more noticeable. The squeaking of the neck of the double bass becomes more prominent. The reverb of the drums during the solo is easier to hear. On Brian Ferry's 'Avalon', during the close out of the title track, his voice is more recognisable among the backing vocals. The performance of vocalists can be better appreciated. There is improved solidity to the bass which underpins the musical soundstage. The music from my system got louder. I have a Tom Evan's Vibe/Pulse2 pre-amp which has a stepped volume control. I had to turn it down a notch from the normal setting I use. Overall it is a very cost effective upgrade. A not insignificant upgrade in sound quality for a not very significant cost. For anyone still not sure, just get it. You will not be disappointed.
  4. I use a pair of Harbeth Super HL5plus which I bought about a year ago. I had a pair of Quad ESL 989's for about 20 years before the Harbeths and a pair of Spendor SP1/2's before that. I only buy something when there is an obvious improvement on what I already have and I am completely satisfied with it. I never really felt the need to constantly tinker with my system.
  5. Have my Regen about six weeks now. I use it with the JKDAC 32 ( Young Driver ) it worked flawlessly. A significant improvement in sound quality.
  6. Hi Steve. His contact website is [email protected] Cell No. 00353863786019. Sorry I forgot to put it in my reply. Mick
  7. Hi, Andy at Dalkey Audio Cable has an excellent 110Ohm cable. He has an ebay shop. I have just got one made up and it is excellent. I use it between a Meridian 500 transport and a Perpetual Technologies P1A/P3A Dac. It sounds better than a silver digital interconnect. Mick
  8. One of the best value cables on the market is the Dark Art from Missing Link. I have it from a Hag usb aes/ebu to a Perpetual Technologies P1A/P3A dac. Very similar to my Meridian 500 transport through the same dac. Balanced The Dark Art 110 Ohm AES/EBU 110 ohm Digital Interconnect uses the same Super Fine Silver Plated Oxygen Free Copper Conductor with special attention paid to conductor spacing to ensure a perfect impedance of 110 ohms - this is then finished with true 110 ohm Silver-Plated Neutrik XLR’s making the Perfect Digital Transmission system.... The Dark Art AES/EBU 110ohm Balanced Digital Interconnect 0.5 metre Terminated with True 110 Ohm XLR .. £95..00 (add £35 per extra 0.5m) http://www.the-missing-link.net/toppage7.htm
