After some initial listening, I tend to prefer the sound with the format "*:24_3:2" line included, compared with no format specified in mpd.conf. But I need more time listening to be certain. It's a surprising result.

ggking7, Which mpd version supports S24_3LE? I tried the 0.15 stable version and the 0.16-alpha1 development version but with both I still have to use plughw:0,0 instead of hw:0,0 to make it work thanks, Lex
