  1. Very disappointing that more diverse content is not available. What's the point of having all this fancy equipment to play back 96/24. Amost feels like this community is in the same situation as sacd, divx, etc were in their early days (which is not a good sign).
  2. No clicking with my DAC at all. Also tried large 24/172 track and it loaded much quicker than before and downsampled nicely to 24/96. On another 10 min long track it loaded fine and played through to completion without a hitch. Oh, and by the way I really enjoyed the music as I was trying this out. Nice work. Cant wait to see some of your ideas on iTunes integration --I like the idea of being independent of iTunes but tapping into it's database when I feel like it. Tom
  3. Damien, Noticed your question was to try setting "Use max I/O buffer" to off. I did that and the clicking went away.
  4. "Do you get the "CPU over" warning with it?" No CPU warning "Can you also try with unchecking the "Use max I/O buffer size" ? I already had "Use max I/O buffer size" and "Exclusive Access Mode" checked off. To be sure, I restared computer and checked settings are still set correctly. No luck, same clicking. Other info: - Changed Max mem allocted for track preload to 3072. No improvement - Checked Audio Midi setup and it correctly set to HRT Music Stream II+ as output device with 96k/24b - Mac mini has 4gb mem. No other apps running when testing Audirvana - I noticed that right after a track started in Audirvana I could go into preferences to reset (Change) preferered audio device back to the same Music Streamer II+ and the clicking would go away. This tells me there is something wrong with the handshake with my device/driver. - On one 9min track I noticed the clicking came back towards the end of the track. Overall I do think the music sounds great.
  5. Damien, I just tried 0.1.6 and like what I see so far. One issue is that I get a clicking sound the first 20 or 30 seconds of all 24/96 sample tracks recently downloaded. I do not get the same clicking on other players I am checking out on through my new HRT Music Streamer II+ connected to a MacMini running 10.6.5 (server). I really like the slick interface you have since I use it on the projection display in my listening room --it fits in with the rest of my equipment Attaching output of my debug log for your reference. Thanks for your help. Tom
  6. @doug2507, Thanks for detailed post on your SDD upgrade experience. I will probably go with the same Vertex 2 (plus it has the CASH list / Chris's endorsement!). Unfortunately no sdd upgrade video's on mid-2010 mini (server) yet but I am sure I can find something soon. Question on your choice to use fire wire 800, was this because it was available or were other perf factors considered. I am looking at either ethernet of fire wire 800 for my mini. Drobo FS supports all so this may be the direction I go in. Still not clear why some in this forum report using eSata on their mini's --unless it is some kind of hack. BTW: This is all prep to connect into my existing MF A5 and B&W 802's --DAC TBD. Sounds like we should compare notes after
  7. Intresting thread ...this forum is really helpful for audiophiles moving into the computer realm like myself. I just picked up a new mac mini server yesterday and prior to setup I am considering some mods this weekend for optimal media server performance. I like approach of ackcheng to replace one internal disk with SDD and attach external drive for music library. - Is there a recommened SDD drive -- I presume any compatible drive will work fine. Ideally 128Gb will be enough just for the OS/boot. - I dont think the unibody supports esata so is firewire800 my next best option to attach external drives (currently looking at ReadyNAS).
