1. Recently I have just moved to China and I brought my beloved iNova with me. I switched to 230v on the back of iNova and hooked it up to a standard power outlet, which runs 220v here in China. The iNova will be on for only a few seconds and turns off automatically. I wonder if there's something wrong with the unit or is it because of the voltage here in China? I wrote to their service and warranty department and got no response yet, the next thing I am going to try is to purchase a 220v to 110v converter and see if iNova works in 110v. This is actually the second iNova I had. The first one was dead on arrival. The power will shut down automatically after a few seconds, Crutchfield exchanged a new one for me, which worked for several month until my recent move.
2. Upsampling is not going to improve the sound.
3. Thanks for the info. I have heard good things about both Starlight and Audioquest Carbon. I read it somewhere else that the Starlight brings more bass and warmth, while the Carbon focuses on mid - hi and gives more details. I wonder if anyone has compared those two cables.
4. What's the best USB cable in the $150 to $250 range? I'm connecting my MBP to inova and I am currently considering the Audioquest Carbon USB (3M), any other suggestions?
5. Go with used Peachtree and a decent pair of speakers.
6. There are tons of audiophile gear stores in shanghai carrying pretty much the same brands here. Many international brand like b&w has its own storefront in shanghai as well. If you know some Chinese, you can always try www.taobao.com for those less popular products. I'm moving back to Beijing next month and I'm shipping my peachtree inova, b&w cm1, and a turntable. I'm praying that they don't break.
7. I was very excited about the ipod dock can pull digital data out of the ipod. I placed my order after reading this review and received my iNova in two days. It was defected upon arrival. Power shuts down automatically every two to three seconds. Since I have been an owner of nova for a year, I'm pretty sure everything is hooked up correctly. The retailer was kind enough to offer me a replacement and sent to me overnight.

Everything works fine this time except the ipod dock. I put my 80G ipod in the dock but it does not start to play. I thought maybe there's something wrong with that ipod, so I put a 160G ipod on, but it still stays idle. I started to think that I might just have received another defected unit. So I decided to give it a last chance and see if it works with my iphone before I return the unit. After mounting and un-mounting my iphone several times, it finally worked. I put the 160G ipod back on, it was still dead quiet. Finally, I decided to use the magic method- rebooting my ipod! Guess what, it worked.

This is not a very smooth experience compared to that of the original Nova. I also believe that the system reacts a little slow when switching input sources. I do hope that the iNova is as well built as the original nova.
