  1. Second that Motion. The wyred4sound Dac is a wonderful piece of equipment, and as stated before one of the real steals in this sickness we all suffer from in this Hobby. Just remember your not alone, Were always here to listen.
  2. I have had the Dac1 in my possesion for about a month now. It has about 250 HRS on it. I have it feeding to a W4S STP-SE and then to some W4S SX-1000 Amps from there to Aerial 9 Speakers. I don't consider tha DAC Dark at all,as a matter of fact it is one of the most Detailed and pure pieces of Audio equipment I have owned. I have not once heard any kind of timing or pace problems. The nice thing is there dosen't seem to be any kind of sibilance or those horrible SSSSSSS normally associated with DAC's and a lot of CDP's. This is the first DAC that sounds better to me than any of my CDP's and I'm comparing to CDP's I have or now currently own those being Ayon,McIntosh, Bryston, Arcam,Emotiva( a seriously underated CDP), Sony, Denon and Yamaha all their Top of the Line equipment. Also along with the usually High Rated BluRay Players. Using a Average CDP for a transport delivery to the DAC is one of the greatest Values in todays market, Plus you get all the extra capabilities of the Dac. I have been recommending this DAC at this price point as the steal of todays Audio Indusry. What a Nice piece of equipment W4S has Produced for general public use, is all I can Say. IMHO My 2-Cents Worth According to My Ears This thing is just Nice. In Closing I might Add that I have never purchased a piece of W4S equipment that didn't perform above it's expectations. A lot of those listed above DID NOT.
  3. Since it is a XLR connection, the connector should be 110 ohm on most any XLR connector, which is what you want. The thing to watch out for is the 110 ohm cable, just make sure it's 110 ohm and digital Data friendly. AES/EBU loves 110 ohm. Try not to use Mic cables, those sold as mic cables, it may be just fine but a lot of times they will solder pin #1 and #3 together, #2 being the hot pin this is okay for a mic, but for our use it almost always better if the have 3 seperate wires for Pins 1,2, and 3. Just General Guidelines. But I hope it helps.
  4. When you BiAmp and use seperate speaker post for each Amp, you will hear a difference. If it is not set-up right what you hear will not be better. When you BiAmp there is alot more involved than just speaker wire and connectors, As you already know.
  5. My experience has been that it is speaker dependent. As a example. Every set of B&W I have owned, have benefited from Bi-Wiring. I have a set of Aerial 9's now and they sound better with single set of wires and jumpers with the main feed from the Amp tied to the top and midrange. The B&W's have always with every Model did better with the Bi-Wire, those being 802D's and 805S's. It is very much a speaker based choice. Try both and listen. Good Luck and Good Tunes
  6. A lot of components will change sound over time, and most of the good stuff for the better. Some components Do not change as much, because they are Run-In at the factory. A good manufacture will run his equipment on a test bench for several hours, just to decrease field failure rate. Bryston is very good example of this. They even run their CDP's In, which I think is great less failures to the end user. Some manufacture's will only give a 90 day warranty, I don't think they are going to run-in, their going to let you do it. As you use Capacitors and resistors in series along with I.C. Voltage changes if one of these is out of spec after load it can change things down line. Some manufactures go to great length to insure all is right when it comes out. Is it enough to change the final sound ? In most quality equipment NO. But you have to understand that Quality and Price DO NOT GO HAND in HAND. My Opinion is I have one. I think equipment does change over time. If that equipment happens to be Sound Equipment, then yes sound changes.
  7. Does this mean that it is a display problem only ? Everything else is correct as far as input and output. In other words only correct reading on the display is off. Nothing else as far as operation of the DAC.
  8. Hi Guys/Gals, What a wonderful forum. I am Brand new here and this is my first post. I am supposed to be getting my DAC-1 Monday. I own their STP/SE and SX-1000 Mono Blocks and I like em. I hope that their DAC is the Quality of the other equipment I own.
