  1. Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place, but it's worth trying.. Hope you can help with your vast experience to shed some light on an install problem i'm experiencing. I'm into music and recently decided to sort my gear out. I've recently bought a Yamaha AW16G, and after doing some research, decided to get a EMU 0404 PCI Sound Card to interface with the PC. I've also downgraded from Vista by doing a complete format/ install of XP PRO SP3. This is where it all started to unravel. I'll detail as much as i can. Physically installed the 0404, but computer doesn't recoginise it. Having consulted various already posted threads, I've Disabled the onboard sound stuff AC97,in XP and in the BIOS, so no Sound Devices are present. I also removed the SoundBlaster that was installed, although no associaterd software was present due to the format and XP install. What i still get upon booting up is 1. New Hardware Found - Multimedia Audio Controller hopefully indicates card is in working condition? 2. The Found New Hardware Wizard kicks in, but i cancel this as instructed in EMU support docs. 3. Found New Hardware - A problem occured during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly. I then try the EMU software driver disc - ENGLISH - InstallShield wizard kicks in then, @Setup could not detect any EMU Audio card on your system. Please ensure blah.... exit. I've tried re-installing the card in dirrerent slots, checked it for faults, but it sounds to me like a software thing?? Here's hoping for some great input ! Cheers Phil UK
