  1. Hi, I have downloaded a few 24/96 FLAC tracks from HDTracks.com, and I am having a problem playing them with Media Center 14 and 15. Either they won't load at all, or they stutter. I have tried playing with the buffering options and the "play in memory" options of MC, but can't seem to get rid of the problem. I am running an ASUS super charged netbook, but still it is a netbook. The music files are on the hard drive in the PC. The machine has 4 gigs of memory, and CPU utilization is low, around 10%. I am using an Ayre USB DAC. Could the problem be that the PC just doesn't have what it takes to handle those high rez files? Many thanks for your help Jeff Schulman
  2. Hi, I am experimenting with J River Media Center and am coming up with an error mostly when playing 24/96 files. Here is the message: Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files. Please make sure that the path in your media library points to the right location. Then I get error details: Playback could not be started on the output Windows Audio Session API using the format '44100 Hz, 24 bits per sample, 2 channels.' This output format may not be supported by your hardware. You can use DSP Studio to change the output to a compatible format. Also, make sure that your system has a valid sound playback device and that is it properly configured in playback options. I am trying Media Center on both a Vista and a Win 7 machine, and have tried both MC 14 and MC 15, error tends to come up after playing 24/96 files for quite a while, a number of hours. I am using an Ayre USB DAC. I have carefully followed directions for enabling WASAPI in Win 7 and Vista, and for installing the Ayre USB DAC. Has anyone seen this before? I would deeply appreciate any help in resolving this. Thanks, Jeff
  3. Hi everyone, thanks for reading. I am working to set up a computer music capability using a spare laptop and an external hard drive as follows: I would like to use a Benchmark USBDAC to take the digital output from a USB port on a spare laptop into my Unico integrated amplifier into stereo speakers. On the laptop, I am running Windows 7. On Windows 7 I am running Pandora to stream music, and would also like to download Foobar to rip about 500 CDs to a FLAC format on an external hard drive, and play this through this system. Am I missing anything that I need to think about? Should this configuration work and produce good sound? Many thanks, Jeff Schulman
