  1. But Sonore Rendu only plays via network, or does it play with localised hard disk attached to it?
  2. This is comforting to know of course ; an industrial computer is bad idea for audio; but that said most pro audio and film guys use the mac pro tower, may i can run it with a power conditioner and it will do well?
  3. Oh my friend - i am sorry, thats what i meant 'Haswell'. as far as "fiddling" with the internals i am not up for it really ; i spend most of time with computers at work. and i am unwilling to do hardware tweaking ; i just want to buy stock fully loaded and run and listen to music ; if the tower can give me better resolution and more soundstage i am more up for it. The Core audio fully loaded machine is expensive given what it can do - and i do not think its for me. Atleast i can use the Mac Tower for some film work. But your LPS sounds interesting i' am def. thinking about it.
  4. Hello Friends, I really wanted to go the Lumin Route, but now am not so convinced after i heard one in my friends system, really do not like fiddling with bitrates etc and i am going to purchase the direct stream dac from PS Audio Soon. I need final setup to feed this DAC It will be either a fully loaded Mac Mini i7 with Broadwell Chip 16 GB Memory 512 SSD or Mac Pro (The Tower, Not the Laptop) 2.7 12x Core Xeon Processor 64 GB RAM I know the second choice is an "all out assault" and coast about 10K USD - Its better to spend it here then get a "audiophile",Lumin (Sorry to all Lumin Fans). Want to know if anyone tried the Mac Pro in-place of the Mini? - I also hear that a lot folks are not happy with the Mini because of the line noise, compared to a notebook running on battery power? - in this case the mac pro tower is going to have more of this problem because of its mega processing power, ultimately i want the best sound. Actually i am sick and tired of using a computer and i do not want to fiddle with the bits up sampling etc just want to play music the reason why i am getting the DACStream because regardless of what you feed it up samples x10 and down samples to 1 bit DSD for output. Counting on you guys for help. Thanks!
  5. I feel the same way about not using the preamp, and i am always more interested in the DAC section since i have a reasonably good preamp, but as product life is so short its important for me for the young to have a good preamp section which cancels out distortion in the dac section as its a combined circuit topology, more importantly in the future i might relegate the young to a desktop system with active speakers and its good to know that the young is capable of this with better capacity than most in the market which which uses full digital attenuators rather than specialist all analog resistor ladder.
  6. Yes, the line magnetic i prefer the best out of this lot - but i would recommend not to use a tube dac instead a tube preamp or a tube integrated and a solid state d/a with variable gain - this is because we would want lower distortion in the chain to feed the amplification where the magic happens - good luck!
  7. Thanks for everyone's feedback, i can see that a lot of buddies here regard FPGA as something iconoclastic - in reality, the technology has been around for sometime and i personally regard using the FPGA to make the D/A conversion is not very special in itself. What may make it special is the way conversion is performed - this i concur however One of the things that make the Young DSD so special for users so far (except the sound itself, which is considered much better than the old Young) is the analog volume control which is very effective in providing a natural musical experience as opposed to most converters employing this in the digital domain, the 3 different gain stages, but in order to get most out of the young dsd - one must use it with the optional power supply the palmer or the up and coming power supply. This makes it apt for it to power different amplifiers (i tried with Tube, with the lowest setting - which was glorious) and the highest for my solid state ref setup - it worked well across the board - well done M2Tech.
  8. Hello arrjmai - i sold off my teac after it was repaired, to me i was not happy with the sound - its not a high end sound, but more of a dac for general consumer electronic use, i prefer and bought the M2Tech Young Mk2 DSD - after trying out the Teac and living with the Mytek for a while.
  9. Hi Matt, Yes i did - the palmer was indeed superior, pin drop background - better decay of natural instruments. I am told there is a new upgraded PSU planned which cost more than the Palmer - i think i will be just happy with the lithium supply. The unit is burning in nicely, the only downside is it looks less sexy than the outgoing young - but sound wise so much better.
  10. I had a similar problem with my TEAC DAC - i think your Lindemann is faulty, but some dacs just did not work after maverick update - but you say it doesnt work on windows as well?
  11. Hi Guys, Just to share with you that, i've since purchased M2Tech's New Version of its Young DAC. Compared to the older young, the instrument decay is more organic, tauter bass - more detail overall and somewhat more mature sound, i used the palmer power supply from my previous setup - and the new young does not disappoint! Its still burning in at the moment and i anticipate more improvement after the 48 hour mark! Overall, quite pleased since i've changed two DACS, and as a former Mytek User (Great DAC but too much digital artifacts) The Young is more musical. I am looking to hear from other owners on how i can improve my setup.. I am currently using Amarra, but will go the Media Player route soon! Have a nice day.
  12. Try Vertere, probably one of the best i heard - DH Labs was good, but wasn't great but better than most audio grade USB Cables (audio quest, monster,Kimber) - i heard the folks at DH Labs are replacing/updating their USB Cable to be launched in 2 weeks, its goings to be called "Mirage", so you might want to wait up and grab this instead.
  13. Guys i am a happy user of the young for the past 2 years, i am just upgrading to the vaughan in a few weeks. I used the Young/Palmer combo with Hiface 2 - and the sound is gorgeous and i am a very happy man, much better than using Young/Palmer only via USB , to me the addition of Hiface 2 made all the difference in the world, yes i don't get 32/384 but i'll take a superior 24/192 anytime over 32/384 (but comparatively was much more superior than other dacs like chord, audiolab etc) With the Vaughan i will be investing on the evostack feeding vaughan to reach 32/384 I2S - i've already heard this set up and possibly will be my to the coffin setup, minus the cost where you can't pay the undertaker, because the vaughan costs a bomb!
  14. I heard the vaughan yesterday, i as mesmerized at the level of detail and naturalness especially straight up from USB, the dealer ran HiFace Evo, Evo Clock and Evo Supply Feeding Vaughan's DAC section through I2s as an "alternate setup" and it even sounded better and just nailed it for me, i was really thinking of a DSD DAC, but i think the Vaughan ability/sound puts DSD to shame, sorry Mytek.
