Hello,
I am new to CA and not a computer expert so please bear with me. In the last couple of weeks I've read various posts on this forum and subsequently procured the Amarra Mini, an Ayre QB-9 and a MacMini with 8 gig of RAM and am quite happy with the audible improvements of all of the products. I hope to finish this project by removing the hard drive in the Mini in favor of a SSD which leads me to a few questions.
1. As I understand it, SLC drives are generally considered superior at least in part, due to their faster write speeds. Is this feature preferable considering I'll be using the Mini solely as a music server.
2. Has anyone noticed sonic differences between an SLC and MLC drive?
3. Currently, the OCZ Vertex OCZSSD2-1VTXA60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Apple / Mac Edition SSD is listed at $220 which is about 1/3 of the price of the comparable SLC version. Has anyone heard this less expensive ssd?
4. I'll be using the Mini to rip CD's onto an external drive will the SLC/MLC control the copy speed?
Thanks,
Nicholas
