  1. Hi Richard, Great works, thanks for your affort. I am always looking for a small linux device as the music playing server. If hiface came out a linux driver, I will try GuruPlug for sure.
  2. Hi Spacecowboy, If you are living in Germany, you can see if you can get the cable from US. Or you can open an mail forwarding account at tenso.com(free), they will forward what you order from amamzon jp to your German address. Most Japanese won't ship their product overseas, so you need to find a mail forwarding company if you want to buy something from Japan. Hope this help.
  3. Thanks hifitubes. I will check those discussion. May be I will try to connect a picopsu to my main pc to see how it sound (instead of using netbook). I always think power plays a real important part of the sound quality, so that's why I just so concern about it.
  4. I am using itx as my server as well. I am using atx power supply in pc-q07 itx case. Do you think you can get "better power" from atx power supply (compare with external 12 volt power supply)? I always think the sound from external 12 volt power supply is not as "solid" as atx psu. Since I made a little comparison between my netbook and pc. The sound is better from my pc which use atx psu.<br /> <br /> Another problem is, if I use external 12 volt power supply, it seems I can't use some good power cable (at least it's hard to find). <br /> <br /> Thanks for your great article anyway.
  5. Hi Gulinias, Did you read this review? http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f21/review-oyaide-db-510-analog-sounding-digital-cable-469313/ I ordered a Oyaide DB-510(0.7m) directly from amazon jp as well, but not yet received it.
  6. There are quite a few itx cases that can fit a full size pci/e card. Here is the list, hopeuflly it can help you to select the one you love. Silverstone sg05 http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=sg05&area=usa Silverstone sg06 http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=SG06&area=usa lian li pc-q07 http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=319&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=63 CFI-A8989 http://www.chyangfun.com/pro04_1_1.asp I got Silverstone sg05, lian li pc-q07 and CFI-A8989 (gave it to my sister). Silverstone sg05 is using as my main pc. lian li pc-q07 is my music server. I use a amd 250u + ST-500EAZ (external psu). The lian li pc-q07 still have room to add a full size pci/e card, but the space is rather limited (compare with the others). CFI-A8989 is a nice case too, I think it's much cheaper than the others. I added a onkyo SE-150PCI soundcard there. I uploaded some pics of my music server. I forgot to take pictures from the CFI-A8989 case, sorry about that. But the case can fit the full size pci/e card nicely.
  7. Hi Richard Dale, Thanks for inspire me to use such a small pc as the CAS. I am using lian-li pc-q07 + amd 250u + SevenTeam ST-500EAZ external psu as my cas. I think mine is already small, but after I read your post, GuruPlug is real winner regarding the size. As far as I know, there is a similar Chinese product called "btplug" in the market. It costs $595(RMB). That little device can run xp. Here is the spec: Vortex86DX 933MHz x86 CPU 512MB DDR2 2 X USB2.0 100mb lan port I might try to get one and see if it can use as a CAS. One thing I conern most is the power supply, since they use a 12V1A power supply only. Is it really good enough? I mean compare with those atx power supply.
  8. Hi blueixus, I also ordered a Hiface BNC version but not receive it yet. I also want to get a Lynx aes16e because I hear good comment about this sound card. But it seems this card is really expensive and I just doubt how much improvement I can get. Since this card is mainly for professional recording card, if I use this card for playing music only, is it kind of wasting money? Do you have any "outside the box" suggestion? Thanks.
  9. Hi bordin, Thanks a lot, checking it now :-).
  10. hi earflappin, I am thinking about to get a M2tech hiface or Lynx aes16e, which one you think is better (hiface or aes16)? Does Lynx aes16e sound much better than M2tech hiface? Since Lynx aes16e is much more expensive than M2tech hiface. Thanks.
