  1. Hello all, I've just purcahsed a mac mini with stock specs (2Gb of Ram & 2.26Ghz CPU) and i'm looking at outputting the sound through a M2tech HiFace. Firstly with Pure music, can someone please explain what is meant by 'memory play mode'? I'm mainly just wanting Pure music for playing HiRes music and specifically the 'automatic sample rate stwitching' feature. Is 2Gb of ram & 2.26 CPU going to be enough for running itunes+pure music, or will the lack of ram probably cuase the music server to be laggy and unresponsive? I guess i could just trial it for 15-days and see how it goes anyway. Any advice much appreciated.
  2. Hello all, I'm looking at using itunes on a Mac mini and outputting my sound through a Usb 24/192khz M2tech Hiface. Was wondering if anyone might know what settings i should be changing on the mac mini and specifically in itunes, to be getting the most out of the M2tech HiFace device? I would like to be able to play CD quality and HiRes music files through itunes>M2tech HiFace device without any downsampling. Thanks, any advice much appreciated.
  3. Hi all, I'm a bit new to the whole audiophile scene, so plz bare with me:) I'm looking at using a Mac mini (2.53GHz CPU, 4Gb ram, OS X 10.6) as dedicated music server and outputting the sound through a M2tech HiFace USB S/PDIF interface. I may be looking at playing a few hires song files but probably most of the time just cd quality audio. I don't really want to spend heaps on music playing software. For an entry-level audiophile system, would iTunes still be an ok music player for processing HiRes (up to 24bit/192Hz) songs and outputting good quality sound? What would be the next step up from iTunes as an alternative? Any advice, much appreciated.
  4. Firstly, thanks for all your helpful comments and advice. Is this true though, that increasing the ram on the mac mini (2Gb-4Gb) may lead to improved sound quality? If so, would it be very noticeable? Thanks again.
  5. Hello all, I'm looking at using a Mac mini as a headless music server and controlling it remotely with a VNC app on a ipod touch or screen sharing on a PC. Is controlling the Mac mini remotely going to be quite taxing on it's cpu and ram? Should the stock specs on a mac mini (2.26Ghz processor and 2gb ram) be enough for running itunes and a VNC program and still having a responsive system, or should i maybe look at upgrading the cpu/ram? Any help, much appreciated.
