  1. Unusually I have found myself increasingly listening to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett... symptomatic of crooner virus I guess!
  2. ATC actives (50-100-150-300 as room size dictates) there is no substitute.... a super interview, very much enjoyed it, thank you for sharing
  3. Brilliant and oh so close to the bone.... I laughed so loud it nearly toppled a Shakti Hallograph ;-)
  4. I simply wish to extend an appreciative thank you to Chris and the CA community for creating and maintaining this excellent resource. My own journey into matters CA started nearly 10 years ago, inspired by this forum, with the purchase of a Mac Mini and a DCS U-Clock to feed my Emm Labs DCC2. The rest is history as they say and today I guess that around 75% of my listening is computer based. Whilst much of the technical speak and analysis confounds me I do believe that I can hear and appreciate music that is reproduced in a manner that pleases my ears. Recent acquisitions (again thanks to recommendations on here) have included items from Genelec, Mytek and Schiit, all of which have far and away surpassed my expectations given their relative costs. Thank you all again and if any of you are ever visiting the Dordogne and desire a musical break from the food, wine and castles then consider yourselves invited chez nous.
  5. A highly strung but, dynamic octet from Maranello in Italy, I conduct myself with two feet and typically two fingers... I really do prefer live music ;-)
  6. Dear Eloise Thank you for the kind guidance, I shall set about borrowing the monitor, keyboard & mouse (wireless for the iMac). My thanks again
  7. Dear Forum members I wonder if anybody can help with the following question: I have new Mac mini which I would like to connect to my iMac (G5,1 - last of the white models) in order to configure it. Have tried with a LAN cable but the iMac does not recognise any connection. As I do not have a separate monitor, keyboard etc. is there another method ?. With thanks in advance for any help you may offer.
  8. Spend a few hundred on a flight to Tokyo, stay with us for the weekend or longer, ATC SCM 50 ASL, Emm Labs DCC2 SE & CDSD SE, DCS Puccini & Puccini U-clock, Isoclean, Shunyata Hydra, Mac mini etc... for jazz & classical it is about as good as live (without medication !)
  9. My sincere thanks for all the input, some homework and evaluation to do now, thanks again.
  10. Dear Chris & Forum members I would very much appreciate some advice and guidance on slecting some new external hard drives. My digital(computer)system is currently: Mac mini, 2 x Lacie 1tb hard drives, dcs puccini u-clock feeding an Emm Labs DCC2 SE into active ATC SCM 50's, controlled with an ipod touch and remote application. Around 1500 cd's (ripped with Apple lossless). I am very, very happy with sound which is startlingly close to a cd played on the Emm Labs CDSD SE. As I continue to add to the music collection I would like to identify and purchase better quality hard drives, currently one is used for playback and the other purely for back-up. They reside in the system rack so noise is I think a potential consideration. There is some on-off malfunctioning from one of the drives and thus the decision to change now. I would not say that cost is no object but, I am happy to invest what is required for better quality and life of data storage. Your guidance is gratefully received.
