  1. I have them in all the set up. I did do some switch out and sorry folks I really cannot tell a difference in my set up. They are well built and inexpensive. I think that they are very good value for the money
  2. Folks, I am glad to see that someone has tried the Ayre with a set of Maggies. And that the combination was a good one. Sometimes with Maggies you don't know until its tried. What Eloise says is also correct I am arfraid. I think what I am going to have to do is the following. First upgrade amp: I am looking around for one that will has about 400 watts per channel. Could be new, thinking of the new ICE amps, but again I need to hear on on Maggies. The prices are low for them. There are good use amps all the time out there that could work. Or the other opion is a new five channel with more go power. Also this could involve going to a seperate pre amp with pass thru to the NAD 175 for viedo maybe. Still pondering that. And Finally the upgrade DAC. Perhaps the prices will come down in the next few months OK going to go save some more schekels now
  3. I am guessing that you folks are a little better at the ability of DAC's to change the sound of a system. So here is what I am using. NAD 175 pre NAD 975 amp 140 watts per channel Mac Mini with two Western Electric 1T hard drives Maggie 1.6 front speakers MMGC as center MMG as rear DAC is the V-DAC The system sounds nice. Good sound stage and presentation. But, aha, it is bright on some recordings. Will up grading a DAC help? I did listen to the Ayre at a local shop and with the system they were playing it through it is wonderful. Speakers used on that system were Wilsons. And do I need to go to that level to get the sound out. One of the other ideas is to up the amp. Or as one person state I never meet a Maggie over powered.
