1. BIOS was one of the areas was looking at before fell upon the taking power out solution, to be honest with you not sure my computer skills stretch as far as BIOS, sounded a tricky area, I was considering re loading BIOS for my computer as there was no F12 option on startup but didn't as didn't want to risk consequences setting me back even further. With it working now, well kind of, I'm fairly happy......

annoyingly DLIII work's on my father in laws's dell laptop also running vista home premium, without any complications

2. Since getting my DLIII up and running I was having intermitent problems with it not always being recognized, when I unplugged the USB then plugged it back in the computer wouldn't recognise it.

With some help and accidently unplugging computer, I have finally tracked this down to the computer needing to be shut down and having all power taken away, i.e. battery popped out or power cable taken away. Then re-started and it recognises DLII.

Ha, strange but works repeatedly...
 3. Yeah, its brilliant, couldn't say wether it was the RAM or the resetting visata, as did both at same time, I would tend to agree with you that RAM wouldn't effect the computer recognizing the DLIII, guessing its more to do with vista re-set.

Cool, have you had any experience / heard anything regards degredation of sound quality with length of cable, the kimber goes up to 5M.....
 4. Chris Have cracked it, thanks for yours and Barrows help, slotted another gig of ram in and reset vista to original settings. Just need to get a good quality usb cable, was thinking russ andrews any opinions? and look at setting up vista to give best sound any suggestions? Jon
 5. Thanks Chris, that will be my next step. will let you know how I get on.
 6. Hi Chris,

When I plug the digital link into the usb port of the computer whilst the DLIII is on the computer does not recognise new usb device or install any drivers, nothing happens at all, as if i've plugged nothing in. I've tried 2 different usb cable's, both of which work on other devices.

I've selected usb on the front of the DLIII.

On my computer by going into the control panel in vista, selecting sound and manage audio devices the DLIII is not shown. The only option I have is internal speaker/headphone and spdif interface, which i've tried selecting but no sound has come out, have made sure volume control is high etc.

Am at a bit of a loss to be honest, have spoken to PS audio and they have suggested a couple of things none of which have worked + directed me to some websites. one of which talks about a minimum of 2Gig of RAM, which i've not come across before??

Would be grateful for any ideas.

Jon

7. Hi, cheers, thanks for getting back to me, its a compaq presario c500 with T2050 dual core pentium processr @ 1.6 ghz, 32 bit operating system, running vista home premium with 1 gig ram, I have been using both vlc media player and have just downloaded and tried foobar. Jon
 8. Hi, I've had my DLIII for a month or so now, have been using with my cd player via rca which is sounding brilliant but can't get it to work with the usb port on my laptop (which doesn't have an optical output), I plug in and nothing happens any suggestions?
