  1. I likely will hold off on this until they get Mac usb driver worked out. I also have a Revelation USB cable and it is excellent. Sounds great on my Wavelength dac.
  2. I too would like to hear from more people regarding this. Especially those using a Mac Mini/ Pure Music. The Mac has one Firewire 800 port which I am using with a firewire 800 drive. Even though I could run my drive usb and get a cable 800 to 400 firewire for the dac I would prefer not.
  3. Thanks for your comments blaine78. That extra 8db would pretty much be unworkable for me. If I decide to order I will definitely need to have the output cut to make it work.
  4. I have been following this thread with great interest. I currently have a Wavelength cosecant with the 24/96 numerator which sounds good via USB and Pure Music. I am considering going for the MYtek for 24/192 and DSD capabilities. Most comments seem to point toward firewire sounding noticeably better than USB. My Mac mini has one firewire out which I am currently using for the external hard drive. I could switch out and use USB for the hard drive and firewire for the DAC. I always thought firewire to be better than USB for an external dac though. Any thoughts on this? Also, based on previous comments of output level using a preamp I have some concern regarding the output level of the Mytek. I am using a Shindo Vosne Romanee preamp which has 16db of gain. I have no idea what the Cosecant output is but it is about as high as I can go with this preamp. Have any others tried the Mytek with preamps?

Are any of you having a problem with the download of 1.61? I have tried multiple times and get an error message (decompression failed) after about 500kb of the 5mb has downloaded. It starts out downloading at a high rate and drops steadily to about 5kb per second then the message appears. I have had no issues downloading the other updates so this has me puzzled.

I have followed this thread and have found it interesting. My style of listening using my digital setup is listening to individual songs and jumping around much like Clay does. I thought that was the convenience of computer audio. I am an audiophile and am not a computer person. I am getting into this to try and improve my digital. If I want to sit and listen to a whole album I would much rather listen to my analog rig as it sounds much better than any digital I have heard. Having said that I did purchase the original versions of PM and have gone along with the upgrades. Early on it was very quirky. I must say though that for me the latest 1.45 version has yet to cause me problems while changing tracks. I have it set for hog mode and always use More is Less as the main controller. It does sound better than trying to use the Itunes controller. I am using with a Wavelength Cosecant asynchronous dac. My biggest beef is the More is Less controller window covers some of my information in Itunes making it hard to open up some music without leaving Less is More and going back to it. It would be much better if that controller covered up the pure music toolbar instead. My 2c.

I downloaded PM last week and have been evaluating. The sound is much better to me than with itunes. In comparing upsampling the non-upsampled seems somewhat more organic with a deeper soundstage. The upsampling seems to add some clarity but at the expense of soundstage depth and image body. The thing I do not understand is the difference when playing 24/96 material. It was my understanding that when playing this material that you were playing from the native files and there was no upsampling regardless of setting. But when you engage upsampling on 24/96 material there is a similar difference of increased clarity at the expense of image body and soundstage depth. Any thoughts why this would be and are others getting similar results?
