  1. I loved the original article, enjoyed the ducking and weaving of the replies. But most of all I loved tomE comments. I grew up with vinyl and audiophiles and had the fortune of listening to phono set-ups I still can't afford 30 years later. But my LP12 languishes in a box - a project for my autumn years. Instead, I inhabit a tomE world where I work within my competing passions (kids) and what I've got (cash left over after school fees) and buy occasionally. <br /> <br /> I've just this evening purchased my first new kit after months of reviews and watching the bank balance (thanks Chris, I'll let you know if I agree with your persuasive comments) and, like tomE, I intend to kick back and enjoy the freedom to choose (and the revel in the upgrade). Whatever the audible improvements of the new component in my listening room, with it's structurally appalling acoustics, I know that Michael Fremer's set-up would always blow me away, just like they did 30 years ago.
