  7. If your Harmony is programmable it should be able to do that. It is nothing more than one command and then another, each repeated several times. it does not even have to be done in a separate macro - macro is just one way of doing it so it can be re-used in other parts of the set-up.
  8. VandyMan, I use a programmable remote control (Philips Pronto 9400). I created a macro which is used in every activity that needs HT bypass. As there is no way or code to set a particular volume setting in one step, I use a workaround. The macro basically does this: - sets volume to zero. for this the macro repeatedly sends 'vol down' code to make sure the volume potentiometer reaches the zero setting from whatever setting it was left on last time. this means that sometimes the motor continues to move for a second or so after the pot has reached zero. - sets the volume to '12 o'clock' position. for this the macro sends the 'vol up' command certain number of times which is picked by trial. It works fine, setting the level very precisely (never had to adjust). I am not worried about wear of the drive coupling from the second or two of drive working past zero as the Benchmark being a piece of pro gear should cope with this no problem.
  9. I use Benchmark DAC1 HDR as a DAC and pre-amp, including HT bypass mode. Yes, I wish it had proper HT bypass setting but I work around the lack of it by using a programmable remote. It sets the vol to 12 o'clock automatically using a macro when any of the video activities are selected and the receiver is calibrated for that. Works perfectly. Here is a very practical review of the Benchmark. http://kenrockwell.com/audio/benchmark/dac1-hdr.htm#intro
  10. There is a new Antimode out soon. Looks interesting, if a bit expensive. No full details yet but looks like it does: - stereo bass management with response curves displayed and customisable - usb/optical dac - preamp with remote http://www.dspeaker.com/en/home.shtml
  11. 10K is a good budget. Please consider active speakers route.
  12. Hello, Would appreciate help in fixing an issue with Squeezebox Server. Tried Logitech support chat and posted on their forum but no answer so far. The problem is that iTunes playlists show as 'empty' on Squeezebox Touch. They used to be ok, but I had to restore the itunes libray after HD replacement recently. I also had to restore the itunes playlists for this new library from the xml file of the previous library. The new library is fully restored now, the playlists in itunes work fine. The settings in SBServer for 'library' point to the folder where the new library is and for 'playlists' to the same folder. (I also tried pointing SBServer 'playlists' to the folder called 'playlists' - no difference). Done re-scans and clearing - no luck. Playlists on the SBTouch show as empty. not even playlist names are shown. The music can be accessed on the SBTouch, but not playlists. Any advice? Would appreciate. (latest SB server, latest itunes, MacMini late 2009, latest snow leopard)
  13. hmmmm... of limited, if any, use to me, too. Although it may be useful for some.<br /> <br /> So, apple, where is the quality? Sicne apple went from 128kbps to 256kbps (how many years ago?) there were no real quality advancement steps taken. they have since dropepd the CD picture from itunes logo ('cd is so last century ...') but still, even several years later, did not match the very CD for quality/resolution. <br /> <br /> I want lossless (16/44 or higher) tracks from itunes and happy to pay for it. I do not want icloud. not in its current form.
