1. I though this may interest to forum members Could it be a low cost devialet? http://www.rasteme.co.jp/product/audio/rda-720/rda720.html
  2. Cannot comment on Weiss or Berkely, however, I replaced a Wyred 4 sound dac2 with the Majik and am very very happy !
  3. This is a weirdly fascinating thread! I own an Art Gallery and fine art printing and publishing company working with many great artists and Musicians who are also artists. i.e. Lou Reed, David Byrne, Donovan etc as well as artists who are also musicians. i.e Robert Longo, Larry Rivers www.adamsoneditions.com
  4. I have to say that after trying all combinations of Mac book, mac mini - Amarra,Pure Music, Fidelio etc. etc. I am more than thrilled with my Linn Majik DSI.It just plain sounds better than all previous systems. I am using a NAS storage, ethernet transfer and one power plug! Of course I still have to rip on my PC but the majority of works I purchase are now high-res downloads. I feel I have finally found a system that flat out works sounds great and is open sourced.
  5. Just switched out my wyred4sound dac driven by auraliti into wired sx 500 monos for a single majik dsi.
Resulting in the Majik (to my ears being the clear winner)
Better bass. Clearer instrument separation , more presence
The wyred was really good but compared to the Linn seemed warm and woolly
Speakers remained the same - quad esl's
Perhaps it is the reduction of power Cords and interconnects
Ethernet cable to Majik and Nas, o e power cord to Majik
Previous system 5 power cords ,1 Ethernet , 1 USB cable. 2 interconnects
I bought it on a whim and was fully prepared to be underwhelmed
Totally surprising!
Also before the purchase I researched the majik and was really put off by the many reviews that found it nearly impossible to configure.
I already had a Nas set up and just urged the Majik into the network and it was instantly found, downloaded chorus for pad and phone and was streaming instantly
Wonderful!
6. I can confirm that the auraliti does not work USB out into the wired dac - nothing nada not even static. I assume you need the driver installed and that is not possible.
In my comments I mentioned I was initially disappointed with the auraliti it sounded flat and thin as opposed to the Mac mini ( no special mac mini just the usually common sense approach to utilizing it for sound)
the difference in sound after I had reset the Wyred dac was almost a complete switch - now the Mac appeared thin and flat compared to the Auraliti, I double checked all output values and made sure the were the same for the mac and Auraliti.
Now remember it is not perfect AB situation - the mac was running USB direct into the Dac and the Auraliti was using BNC direct, they were both playing the same flac files albeit from different drives and yes I also switched the drives to see if that was an influence.
I not only used Amarra and pure music but also other music player software and the Auraliti always sounded richer more resolved and it was not a close contest.
Damien put me down for the server!
Btw what kind of storage will the server utilize?
  7. I have been using the Auraliti for over one month, previously using Mac Mini and Pure Music or Amarra out to Wyred 4 sound Dac 2.
I liked the idea of a headless unit outputting bit perfect data.
I was able to AB the two systems easily as I had duplicate HD's, Iwent USB into the Wyred from the MAC and BNC from the Auraliti.
At first I was not happy with the results from the Auraliti it sounded flat and thin, I really wanted it to sound better and logically thought it must - I put the difference down to the Music software from the MAC.
Ray at Auraliti was happy to take the unit back although he to was confused by my discovery.
One night I decided to do a hard reset on the Wyred 4 sound dac and lo and behold everything changed - now the Auraliti was clearly the better sounding by a large margin. I can only assume I had the output set at different values for the DAC inputs.
I am extremely happy with the Auraliti and it would be even better with an Auraliti NAS attached.
8. I thought everyone might like to know about this Ipod Ipad app it allows you to play flac files from the ipod iphone or ipad using it now very cool! http://hammockdistrict.com/flacplayer
  9. Hi, I guess what I was really asking was if the PK100 would be upgradeable to the USB 2 version I have heard about?
  10. Will the current auraliti PK100 be upgradeable?
  11. Hello Demian, out of interest where do the Auraliti units ship from? And will the unit play well with the wyred for sound Dac2? Thx
  12. Still has intermittent bug, slight false start followed by track playing correctly.
  13. The iPad sounds every bit (excuse the pun) as good as the mac mini to dac plenty of volume overhead, sounded very clean and sweet, perhaps the solid state drive and battery power clean up the delivery? Will have to listen more but I honestly was sucked into the sound and forgot about any comparisons
  14. Picked up the adaptor, hooked it to a musiland USB dac , really impressed with the sound, and it does look cool. Used sound forge previewed a few tracks picked a Miles Davis I had not heard before , two seconds later listening to Miles on my quads

Hi I wonder if anyone can comment on this I am using PM in hog mode trying different dacs apogee duet firewire and M2tech usb, the audiomidi panel shows a volume output slider for the different output streams and I notice it is set different for the different devices. My question is: is there an optimum setting for this or is it controlled by the output device? BTW, both sound great in hog mode, I prefer the M2tech going into my musiland dac by a fair margin. although I could happily live with either the bar just keeps being raised in what we are hearing. One problem is I am still getting the pop when PM changes sample rate between tracks and i am using the latest beta of PM any solutions?
