Has anyone tried HQPlayer Embedded with an M1 running Asahi Linux, yet? Jim

Thank you, sir! Btw, how are you calculating your RIAA filter? Would appreciate a reference to whatever PEQs / biquads you're using. Thanks, Jim
-
Yeah, to apply EQ for my speakers. -Jim

Hey all, is it possible to link a specific input to a pipeline in HQplayer Desktop? I have 2 sources. One for digital (wasapi from VB-Cable for Spotify) and one for my turntable (wasapi from my usb ADC) and would love to have the ability to easily switch between the 2. Right now, if I want to switch from Spotify, I have to go into Settings and change the input to my ADC then I have to change the pipeline to the one that has the RIAA correction, and finally I have to select the proper ADC sample rate within the dropdown to audio:default/384000/2.....then hit the Play button. Would be great if I could more seamlessly switch.....if its possible. Thanks, Jim

@Miska, thanks for this. Yes, meant I am getting ADC level input peaks of -6db (per the level meter). I see what you mean just adding overall gain via the pipeline. RE: the RIAA curve, I'm thinking that all production records of recent years aim to follow the theoretical curve. It would be awesome if we had a choice to implement the ideal curve in HQPlayer. Btw, since this is biquad, what are you using for coefficients? -Jim
-
@Miska, I probably peak at around 6db of input gain with my ADC. This isn't at the bass region either as that area is coming into the ADC at a very low level (following the reverse RIAA correction curve). My limit meter in HQPlayer never kicks in. I keep it at -5. -Jim

@Miskabut if your boosting material that follows the inverse RIAA correction curve, it shouldn't go above 0db, right? I.e., a tone at 20hz should be -20db....so boosting it by 20db should get you right to 0. I'm using the convolution method you suggested which does digital boosting of +20db at 20hz and I don't get any clipping. -Jim

@Miska, the new RIAA plugin does not start at +20db and end in -20db. It starts at 0db and ends at something higher than -40db. Any specific rationale behind that? The overall output is very low because of this (and the fact that there is not a 40db differential between 20hz and 20khz is curious). -Jim

You wouldn't need your phono stage in the above, assuming the ADI2 PRO provides enough gain. -Jim

I do vinyl playback with HQPlayer and it works GREAT!! I run balanced out from my turntable into the mic inputs of my Focusrite Clarett 2Pre USB. Conversion is at 24bit / 192khz. Then RIAA correction and upsampling / conversion to DSD256 prior to output from my Gustard X16. Btw, Miska, the new RIAA plugin does not start at +20db and end in -20db. Awesome - thank you! Any commentary on how this plug-in was constructed, specifically as it relates to accuracy? -Jim
-
How does one use the new RIAA plug-in? -Jim
-
New Desktop has to be soon, right? Soooo looking fwd to that RIAA plugin :) -Jim

scintilla, can you simultaneously input at DSD 256 from a source (turntable) and output at DSD 256 with the ADI-2 Pro? WASAPI Exclusive / ASIO. -Jim
