  1. If I simply use the mac mini to rip all cds to flac using some type of ultra software to make things speedy ( don't know what I'm talking about) I could then use the drobo to back up everything with two WD Caviar black 2TB drives. The mac mini by nature could connect to my airport extreme for using my Ipad as a remote. I"ve searched and searched for hours and can find no definitive answer to what extern cd-r device that is really fast at archiving these audio files eventually to my drobo. I chalk my main problems to my ignorance. i've never ripped any cd to archive or put on a plastic cd so I am way behind the audio curve. Ask as I might , the professional cd copying companies, hobbyists alike must use something, I just don't know what it is. I am in such desperate straights I would be willing to pay $$$$$ some bay area fellow poster to help me set something up. There is surprisingly little written about anything to do with ripping and storing music to a USB based hard drive. So, what hardware is being sold to quickly rip these cds's

  4. Hi Demian, good to see you here and am curious if you have a new version of the pk100 coming out soon. I've decided to buy a brand new mac mini and am going to have all my cds added to a 500gb data robotics drobo with 2 Western digital Caviar black Hard drives as back up and acting as the usb drive to feed the Auraliti. Whichever mac mini I use as the controler through an IPad will be fine. I hope CES is going well for you. Keith
  5. Demian I'm ready to go for the older or newer version (Ray hinted as such) when I spoke with him recently. I've ordered One Drobo 4 bay and 4 Western digital Caviar black drives leaving me one more Drobo to purchase and two more WD Caviar greens to add on, one to each drive. Let me know how things are going and when you want to get together per our discussion before you left for CES. Since I'm officially a cable manufacturer, it you really really like this stuff for your headphone application, we'll be ready to roll.

  7. Ciamara thanks for the thoughtful response. I believe it's important to have an ethernet connection available for using an airport express as a bridge as well as a usb connection to go to the Auraliti I'm pretty sure i'm going to buy, unless you think something like a WD my book world computer drive would work, I liked the idea of the Data Robotics drobo because it does everything that I will likely have difficulty with. I'm good with audio (I've patented an audiophile cable going into production) just not computers, thanks, Keith
  8. I've been reading these forums for a while now but I use a mac, just ordered a drobo 4 bay for my main computer and have airport extreme. I wanted to get a nas drive with ethernet so I can get an airport express to act as a bridge in my living room. This won't probably for music but for using my ipad as a remote control. I would like some recommendations on a 2 bay Nas drive (drobo 5 bay with ethernet is pricey and overkill for me) and it must be a mirrored drive using either raid-1 (if I think I can configure it, I'm a mac guy) or something like a droboeque technology. I just don't know where to go with this. I called synology, was put on hold for a couple of minutes and told simply GOODBYE, If anyone can offer some help, I would greatly appreciate it. I've got a high end audio system deserving of the best that I can provide it. I know there are some really knowledgable people here, so please give a shout out, thanks
