  1. I just got the Windows 8 dvd and am wondering how to load onto Lagoon. Some how I need to make a bootable usb. Cliff
  2. That is what all the research is about. If you want better components, then build the next version after Lagoon. I just built Lagoon and I have zero experience. Just follow the Topanga video for the motherboard and RAM. For the hard drive look at the pictures to see how it gets connected. Cliff
  3. I just made Lagoon and am trying to load Windows 8. The Windows 8 DVD came and I made an ISO file using BurnAware. I tried to read this ISO file into Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool so that I can make a bootable usb thumb drive (Lagoon only has usb ports). This Windows 7 download tool doesn't like the iso file I made of the Windows 8 DVD. Can anyone help? Is there already an ISO file on the Windows 8 DVD somewhere? This is my first time building a computer so please be patient! Thanks, Cliff
  4. after further reading on the site - it seems like a gigabit network switch would be my solution
  5. My first post - sorry if its well trodden ground. I would like to set up a music server thru a mac mini and a home theater system using Apple tv. I want to keep them separate because I have two systems in my basement (separate Pre-amps and Amps for HT and Music). The two systems share the large floor standing speakers - I just switch by inserting either HT or music speaker cables. Right now I am playing my ipod thru a Wadia transport into a Music hall DAC, which is ok but nothing like when I spin a CD thru my system. I have a wireless router in a nearby room so how can I hook up a NAS (something like a WD My Book 1 TB) to my router and also the Apple tv and Mac Mini? I know that the Apple tv and mac mini could be operated wirelessly but I would like to use ethernet cables to get a more reliable connection. The NAS would have iTunes on it. Eventually I will upgrade my DAC but first I wanted to get the mini, NAS, and Apple TV going. Thanks. Cliff
