  1. ....if you ever have a chance to listen to Siegfried Linkwitz´creations: Don´t miss it ! Only if you heard them once, you might understand why people are so fascinated by their naturalness and extraordinary 3-D imaging. http://www.magiclx521.com/epages/17940394.sf/en_GB/?ViewObjectPath=%2FShops%2F17940394%2FCategories%2Fnews
  2. +1, ...how the speakers interact with the room, this creates the phantom soundstage illusion in your brain. Does the soundstage illusion collapse when leaving the sweetspot by a few inches? Some Wilson listeners and B&W owners reported...http://oplug-support.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4227
  3. Aren´t missing harmonics rather a malfuction than a flavour? Just talking about overtones in instruments and voices. Of course, you don't want your system to add harmonics to the signal path (except, if you prefere listenung to tube amps)
  4. Maggies shouldn t sound "without harmonics". Has there been something wrong in the setup? Quite some insights can be found here: THE MAGIC IN 2-CHANNEL SOUND REPRODUCTION - WHY IS IT SO RARELY HEARD? http://www.linkwitzlab.com/The_Magic/The Magic in-Edit-SL.pdf
  5. I would suggest to take brief look at Linkwitz Lab - Loudspeaker Design Be it turnkey or DIY. Some ex-MartinLogan and ex-Maggie owners report there. With Siegfried Linkwitz' creations, they found their "last speakers" . A believeable, natural 3D soundstage, that keeps stable when leaving the sweet-spot! Some folks around the world offer private auditions in the OPLUG forum. (eg. on March 25th there is one in Stuttgart/Germany) Cheers, Frank
  6. San Franciscos Burning Amp Festival was an opportunity for Bay Area residents (and also from beyond) to experience stable imaging and natural reproduction. Some pictures and impressions can be found here: BAF2016 or News - Linkwitz magicLX521....Stereo kann 3-D @13NOV2016
  7. You may have noticed the RMAF Denver report abou the new LXmini and the LX521. LX521 Constant Directivity Loudspeakers
  8. THe CARHOTEL is located in Stuttgart/Germany, the town famous for their car factories Daimler-Benz and Porsche.
  9. Recently, selected guests had the opportunity to join the event at the CARHOTEL and go for a testride with a TESLA Model S, a BMW i3....and -of course- listen to the LX521 Even in this extremely open, reflective and asymetrical environment, the outstanding phantom imaging of LX521 could be demonstrated to an interested audience. 10. Hi Mike, you really should try to listen to one of those LX521 With a well resolving program source (DAC etc), you might be experiencing the same as Peter Aczel: TheAudioCritic.com/plog/ The speakers naturally disappear as soon as you start the music; you don’t even have to close your eyes. I would go even further—you have to make a slight mental effort to be aware that the speakers are actually there! It’s uncanny... A "Titanium Driver Award Promotion" is running for LX521 turnkey sytems. If interested, here is more.
  11. The well-known audio critic Peter Aczel http://theaudiocritic.com/plog/ just reviewed the Linkwitz LX521. Not mentioning, that in the meantime there are turnkey LX521 system available (from Germany)
  12. Speakers are heavily interacting with the room, except you are only listening near field (eg close by monitors in a dampened recording studio). In order to create a believeable soundstage, the radiation pattern of the speakers as well as reflected and reverberant sound will play an important role. Our brain determines direction with the first wavefront. The reflections/reverberant sound are neglected by the brain , if the reflections/reverberant sound carry the same spectral content as the first wavefront. This may be achieved by eg constant directivity monitors (like LX521), which transmit the same sound "color" backwards. The bafles are open at the rear side. You find lots of background information on this in Siegfried Linkwitz´website linkwitzlab. Enjoy reading (and listening)!

  14. There is "The Official LX521 Auditions Seeking Thread..." ORION/PLUTO/LX521 Users Group • View topic - The Official Seeking LX521 Auditions Thread... I heard the big Magnepans 3.?, before going for the Linkwitz Orions in 2007 (Linkwitz LX521 became available late 2012) The Maggies were impressive and steered my attention away from conventional box speakers to dipoles. The Maggies have their pros and cons, I like their slim appearance. When the Maggies want you exactly in the sweet spot, the "Constant Directivity" radiation pattern of LX521 allows you to listen from "off"-side and still get nice phantom spatial impressions. And ... there is this dry and powerful bass of the LX521 woofer V-frame, able to emit bass&drum pressure waves, that rock my listening chair. ....
  15. Could be interesting, too. However, I m veeery amazed when listening to the LX521... Holographic soundstage 5m behind the speaker axis. ....quite a departure from conventional box speakers.
