  1. It may help...best is goes with what sound best to you. That's all it matters [emoji4]
  2. I think it's the decoupling theory Raidho adheres to. There are many various ways on how speakers designers control or manage vibrations. I don't think it's a right or wrong per se and if it works why not. Certainly it works but I personally prefers a rigid solid stand for practical reasons.
  3. It's often hard to gauge the speakers character until you put them side by side and drive them with identical electronics. I am lucky to have that opportunity because I did consider going for the D1. Also do note that the D1 needs the original stand for it to play at its best. If you don't like the original stands and is thinking of using a more rigid stands you are in for a lost in sound quality.
  4. Both the same amp a Bryston 4BSST2. Interestingly the GE has more details versus Raidho which seems rolled off a little too soon.
  5. I have compared Raidho D1 and Sonus Faber Guarneri Evo (GE) in my room. Long story short I put my money with GE and also bought Dynaudio C1. Most of my stereo listening is with GE and occasionally I listen to the C1 when I wanted a different flavour. Enjoy~
  6. Thanks...Yes, they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. In the early days when Devialet came out its first model revolutionary D - Premier at a cost of €12.000 I jumped at the opportunity and wrote a short review locally - I was very impressed with it. The idea to simplify the set up and reduce the number of boxes for any city dwellers are very compelling. At that point I wouldn't say my complete system was anywhere close to high end and its more like a mid end level if you will. The sound quality from the D - Premier was so good that I was very tempted to sell all my gears. I did not make the switch at that point for a number of reasons and even now I think it still stands true at least for me. I knew Devialet is special and I am confident given time it will improve its performance in sound quality and so will its pricing structure. Almost 4 years now and indeed they have continued to innovate and enlarged its appeal to a wider group of consumers. Over time I have also made quite a number of changes to my system and its sound quality has improved to a stage that I make far less changes then I used to. Yes, the total cost maybe more versus Devialet but the overall gain in sound quality with separates increases substantially too. Many Audiophiles are idealistic in the pursue of sound quality and they are almost perfectionist in that. I am one of those that will constantly tweak their system to a stage it meets the evolving expectations. However, Devialet do have a space in Audiophile community as more and more people is looking into a simple and elegant setup not having to toy with too many technicalities to reproduce a good sound. Its really not a zero sum game but about making a purchase that meets your expectations or habits over time. Enjoy!~
  8. That's some amazing diy speakers with top grade drivers! I bet it sounds alive!! ?
  9. Had the Trek 1.7 for 7 years and still loves it.... And just this year bought a Cervelo R5...even better
  10. Nice and neat! What speaker cables are those?
  11. I am still running on SL...not too long ago did some extensive comparing of SL to ML and not convince its better. Not sure about Maverick as a dedicated music server. Do let us know if it does sound better http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/upgrading-mountain-lion-15249/index2.html
  12. Couple of months back I was in the same dilemma when I was looking for a DAC to upgrade. After hours of research and as well as looking at the CD collection I have which in my case mostly PCM and the SQ of each options available - I ends up with a CD player! LOL!! I am completely spoiled by Mac music server and haven't been spinning a CD for a very long time, however I can still hear a slight SQ gain playing through a good CD player versus a highly mod music server. So I started looking for a CD player with no compromise digital inputs and decided to go with Audio Research Ref CD9. It has a USB input like many other DACs but that wasn't the main criteria as till date I have yet to hear a DAC with direct USB connection to a computer system can sound better. I purchased a Berkeley Audio Design Alpha USB as an interface between my Mac server and DAC - it sounds much better versus direct connection and IMHO very close to the CD playback quality. With a high quality CDP I also find myself playing more CDs and its still a great way to enjoy your tunes too I am thoroughly thrill with this setup and haven't had any urge to go DSD. Cheers~
  13. Hi Blake, you may try different PC to suit your set up but I uses Audience PowerChord e with good results. Good to know the Alpha USB is isolated...btw, you have a good setup
  14. Yes, I end up with the ARC Ref CD-9 and I am using it as a DAC as well. The Bryston is good but I preferred the ARC Ref CD-9 and to my ears its an upgrade versus others I have heard or tried. Hope that helps to clarify
