  1. Hello, Thinking about an imac and wanted to see if anyone has experience running bootcamp with Windows 7 and using the SPDIF output to a DAC with JRiver and getting bit perfect output? Thanks, Martin
  2. Appreciate all the feedback thus far. At this point, it seems like I simply need to test the waters and give it a try. Before I do this, however, I need to decide on a unit for the ATD. You think the EMU unit should be a good place to start, or any other suggestions?
  3. Hello, Would like to copy my vinyl records to my computer, but do it correct the first time and use decent equipment so I won't have to do it again in the future. Current equipment: Project Xpression Turntable Denon DL-103R cartridge Cambridge 640P pre Disc Doctor cleaning kit PC/Windows 7 64/ASUS Xonar Essence STX I am considering a EMU 0204 USB audio interface for the analog to digital conversion (ADC). For any other suggestions which may come, I'd like to maintain the 24-bit/192kHz ADC. I'm open to suggestions here from anyone with experience in the process. At this point, I'm not sure if I should wait and save for better quality equipment, such as a turntable upgrade (have been looking at the marantz tt-15s1), cartridge, or phono stage. I enjoy good quality music like most here, I'm sure, but am also not willing to spend tens of thousands for this set up to only get marginal improvements. I'd consider holding off on the conversion and saving some more money for a better set up if the one I currently have (in addition to adding the EMU) will be notably less in quality in the final recordings. I have taken the time and searched the forums and found all the applicable (this is where I found the EMU suggested), and very helpful, posts related to vinyl recording. At this point, I'd like some suggestions regarding my current set up, and if I should push forward with this or hold off until I would upgrade in the future. Many thanks, Marty
  4. Err... Appears this card is out of stock from every reliable source online.
  5. Chris, Appreciate the quick reply and help! I guess I'll be going with this card. I haven't found anything else that will pass DTS and also bit perfect audio through HDMI. Kind Regards, Martin
  6. Hello, I would like to know, is the Asus Xonar hdav 1.3 bit perfect? It is my understanding that when the card was first released it was not capable of bit perfect playback. However, reading some more recent sites, it appears there may be an updated driver that does allow bit perfect streaming (?). I prefer this card as it will allow DTS pass through for blu ray movies from my computer. However, I would also like to use it to pass through bit perfect audio to my stereo. I am running Windows 7 and intend to use J. River as a music player (which I understand is capable of bit perfect output). Any input and guidance is welcomed. Thanks, Marty
  7. Hello, From what I've read, it's possible to configure the ReClock program and get bit perfect playback with Windows Media Player. My problem is, I don't know of a source that explains the exact configuration settings in ReClock to get this. If possible, could someone please point me to a source that explains this or give me some instruction? I'm running Windows 7 64bit. My goal is to play my music using WMP, running it out of a sound card (not purchased yet), into a DacMagic, then into my system, while maintaining bit perfect throughout the digital phase. A JPEG of the ReClock configuration is attached. Thanks, Martin
  8. I have not decided on any software yet. I had planned to run the sound from my stereo into my computer's sound card. What would a better option be?
  9. Goal: 1) Need to record my vinyl to my computer. 2) Want to play back the recorded vinyl from my computer through my stereo. 3) Budget was around $500, but am open to options. Do I need both? - If recording through my sound card and converting the analogue in the PC wouldn't provide good quality, then the answer is yes. I'm also exploring sound cards, but perhaps there's a better option?
  10. Hello, Been reading the forums for a few evenings and have found the site helpful and interesting. My goal is to put some of my vinyl records onto my PC and then play the lossless digital files through my strereo. I had looked at the Cambridge DacMagic, but found it did not accept 24 bit sound, but less, then upsampled it. So my question now is, what DAC would you suggest that accepts 24 bit and would be decent for playback through my system? Currently have an HK stereo and klipsch reference speakers and will be connecting the DAC to a desktop computer running windows 7. Thanks in advance for your advice! -ME
