  1. Why don't you conisder WMP to be a serious audiophile application?

    Tagging Mistake

As for the duplicates issue, I keep more on the external HDD than I will ever keep on my internal one for listening, so I'll make sure things are as I want them on the internal HDD, than if I get anything from the external that isn't right, I'll cross that one when I come to it. Thanks Paul, I've made great strides in an hour or so thanks to your tips.

    Tagging Mistake

again Paul. However I meant to select all the files in the list in MP3Tag, if you see what I mean? I'm still getting the odd refusal to rename as the file already exists which is irritating, and I did one album wrongly and converted filename to tag instead so I'm correcting that track by track. Again, if you know any fixes for these problems, I'd be most grateful. Many thanks for your help.

    Tagging Mistake

that's a great help! I just tried it with too many files though, as, for reasons unknown, it had trouble with some and I had to change them manually, and some are now just called things like "MP3". However, there are not many like that so maybe if I jsut do smaller batches...? Is there a quick way to select all tracks?
  5. Hi folks. I've recently finished a long run of ripping with dBpoweramp and noticed a glaring error. In the folders, songs show up with the track number as part of the filename. They appear without the number in Media Player as the titles are correct, according to MP3Tagger, it is just the "file name" field that is wrong. I say wrong because I'd much rather just see the song in the folder in alphabetical order, which is not possible when the track number appears. So I guess there are two questions. Firstly, what is teh quickest and easiest way of putting this right with the tracks I have already ripped (and indeed any downloads as they seem to display teh track number too) , and, secondly, how do I make sure it does not happen in future? Someone suggested to me that the answer to the first question may be to bacth convert everything to the same format I have ripped to, after changing the tag criteria in poweramp, but a dry run did not work for soem reason. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. EDIT - it can be fixed by running everything through MP3Tagger but this means changing every track in turn. I'll do this if need be but I'd love to find soemthing quicker...
  6. Sorry, but they wont be killing off anything any time soon. You touched upon teh fact taht there are so few people into high(-er, at least) end audio, but there are also relatively few using Apple products other than the ipod and maybe iphine, but i think iphone hype leads to a false impression of how many are using it. How, then, could they kill off optical drives? And why kill of MP3?
  7. Hi all. I wonder if anyone can tell me exactly how to go about converting AAC files to MP3 within itunes? As far as poweramp is concerned i am currently ripping to MP3 and WMA Lossless with it. The file path is: Rips WMA MP3 Band/Artist " " Album " " Compilations are ripped into the same path, but I would rather they were in a path like this: Rips WMA MP3 Album " " Or at least something similar. So, is it possible to set it to rip compilations in this way whilst keeping the way it rips everything else the same?
  8. Yes, same quality, bigger file, so there'd be no point unless theres some other reason why you particularly need that format.
  9. i saw something about the squeezebox beiong bit perfect, even with the digital volume control, to a certain volume point; 30 decibels i think. i dont really know how loud that is. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30916
  10. thanks for that! ive tried winamp and itunes, i currently use wmp. i very briefly tried foobar but have forgoten it really. i prefered winamp, and definitely itunes. i just prefer the usability of wmp.
  11. I'm happy enough but theres that nagging doubt that if it can be as big an improvement as, say, when i added a dac to my old system, or a better sounding media player (if you believe, i do, so far).
  12. Sorry folks, i'm up to my third thread in a fairly short time now, and rthis subject has been done to death, just not in such a way as to answer my question. Whether i get a mac or not (or get something like the Juli@ in a PC) pretty much comes down to the whole bit perfect thing. Am i really going to hear that much difference? Or is it one of those things that one might just hear in the right circumstances? And this stuff about using your amps volume control. Much of the time im right at the pc, so would use the WMP control. Would i really be decreasing the sound quality that much? If i get the Juli@ in a PC, should i still be need, ideally, to keep th evolume at 1oo% in wmp or itunes or whatever?
