  1. Hi ColtMrFire, Phil advises in his AO manual that you need to install Windows Server 2012 first in GUI mode before you can convert into Core mode. The reason for this is that only in GUI mode you can access the Device Manager and check if all your device drivers are are working and only in GUI mode you can tweak the adapter settings for a dual PC setup. I have done the Windows Server 2012 installation in GUI mode on 7 of my PCs (3 of them as Control PCs and four as Audio PCs) and all of them are running fine after going from GUI to Core mode. Once the GUI installation is OK, you can use the AO Service Tool, as Fran suggested and convert to Core mode. In any event, I think AO cannot revert to GUI mode unless you have installed Windows Server 2012 in GUI mode in first place. Unfortunately, this means you will have to reinstall Windows Server 2012, but in GUI mode.
  2. I am quite lucky as they have listed the equipment I am intending to connect in their list of compatible audio products. In general, though, I think they are quite correct with their statement. If the input voltage can be accepted by your equipment, you should be OK. I do not think that there is any degradation of the signal, provided your connection is not too long.
  3. The question if the clock can be connected to a 75Ω equipment was answered on their website (Google Translation): "The output impedance of this unit is 50Ω, but it also can be connected without any problems to 75Ω of equipment. Output level Please check the voltage value that has been described in the "product offerings and specifications" column of the above because slightly different at the time of 50Ω at the time and 75Ω. In addition, when connected to 75Ω get up things that somewhat reflected wave from an impedance mismatch there was no effect of appreciably in the Allan variance and phase noise value is our test. Cable length to connect the clock is considered to influence if there is no longer such as more than 5m is negligible."
  4. I have just inserted the 5th generation Burson opamps in my LKS 002. This is quite an improvement over their 4th generation opamps, which in my system sounded better than the muse and Dexa opamps. The 5th generation Burson opmaps are a real game changer in my system. Highly recommended.
  5. For years now I am using the RME HDSPe AES and it is the best sound I can get out of my PC.
  6. Sorry, you can't know LKS 092, as it was a typo. Should have been 002. I will have to check what version my MX-U8 is, as I only got it very recently. Many thanks for the additional info.
  7. I wonder if the connection scheme hereunder will work for an I2S cable between the LKS 092 and the MU-X8: 1-LKS - SDATA > 4 - SDATA - MX U8 2-LKS - SDATA GND > 1 - GND - MX U8 3-LKS - LRCLK > 8 - LRCLK - MX U8 4-LKS - LRCLK GND > 3 - GND - MX U8 5-LKS - BCLK > 6 - BCLK - MX U8 6-LKS - BCLK GND > 7 - DIN (?) - MX U8 7-LKS - DSD OE > 5 - DSD - MX U8 8-LKS - MCLK not connected > 2 - MCLK - MX U8 not connected and would be grateful for your insights.
  8. My very best wishes to Mr. Wicked for the addition to his family. There could be no bigger joy than a newborn child.
  9. Great. Many thanks. Just got it. That also answers the question where to connect the MX-U8 no. 2 connector for MCLK. It is not connected.
  10. Many thanks for the great info. Is there a pin lay out drawing for the JR45 output in the MZX-U8 manual?
  11. Woops, sorry for that. I use these StarTech transceivers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BUBW2SQ/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER I tried Finisar transceivers before, which I use in the Adnaco cards and backplanes, but they did not work
  12. I am using a fibre optic connection between Control PC and Audio PC for about a year and it sounds really good. I equipped two of my PCs with Startech PCIe Fibre Optic Ethernet cards. My Audio PC also uses an Adnaco extensions with fibre optic connections between the Adnaco backplane and the Audio PC. The Adnaco extension is housing my RME AES HDSPe card, which is externally clocked by the same clock that also clocks my DAC. This has a very positive effect on the sound, which is clear and crisp and with loads of details. As to single mode or multimode fibre optic connection, my experience is that single mode sound slightly better than multimode connections. I am using these adapters: http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER which require transceivers http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER which I can highly recommend for a fibre optic network connection between Control PC and Audio PC.
  13. The pictures in Hiendy are really very interesting, makes me think about how to get my LKS DAC to Ben. By the way, I would also be grateful for a pm with some indication about the cost involved.
