  1. Thanks for the suggestions. This may be part of my problem. I deleted the sub-directory in the Music folder. A while back, after attempting to save my library to my back-up drive with SuperDuper, I basically lost about 15% of my library on both drives. I have no idea how it happened. The files are listed, but when I go to play them, says it's unable to find them. I think my fundamental problem is that I don't really have a grasp on how iTunes file management works, especially metadata. And now that I have Audirvana 2.0, there's a whole new system I need to learn. Right now, I can't play any files using Audirvana's library without it being linked to iTunes. Any suggestions regarding an iTunes file management tutorial? My ignorance is making me anxious.
  2. So I've been running a computer-based system for over 5 years now. I'm not quite sure how an IT-deficient such as myself managed to do it, but I have managed to set up a very nice sounding front end: a Mac Mini (I managed to replace its hard drive with an ssd and increase its RAM), Audirvana+ software, and I have a couple of external hard drives, and a Schiit Gungnir DAC connected with an optical cable. My problem is trying to manage the library and maintain a proper back-up system. It's a nightmare. I just do not understand iTunes. I find it frustrating to no end. I want the Computer Fairy to come into my home and make it all better. And this is where you may come in. Anybody want to earn a little extra money as a telephone consultant? Or does anyone know someone who is already doing this? I try to learn from these forums, and I've learned a lot, but when it comes to managing my library, I need to have my hand held.
  3. I have a Gungnir. Sounds pretty fab to me. One reviewer found that only his $4K PS Audio PerfectWave II bested it. Only downside is that it's not compatible with "integer" mode.
  4. Unless you are a politician being schmoozed by a lobbyist.
  5. In both 1.4.9.8 and 1.4.9.9 a track will occasionally start to play for about 3 seconds, then will stop, and start from the beginning of the track with no further problem. Also getting a few pops between tracks sometimes. I'm using iTunes integrated mode. Using in "exclusive access" and "direct" modes. My DAC does not support "integer" mode. Also using AU graphic equalizer. 2011 Mac Mini with 8 GB RAM, Mountain Lion. I'm not sure how to use the "debug info" feature. Should I pause play right after it happens and then click on "debug info?"
  6. I'm only suggesting this because I have made this same mistake, but you might want to make sure you're actually using the right version. I've inadvertently opened an old version, thinking that it was a new one.
  7. Bummer. Looks like yours is the first report of hiccups. I'm using an optical cable, but so far, no hiccups. Hoping that has nothing to do with it.
  8. Dang, just when I thought that Audirvana beat Pure Music, or vice versa, the other one comes out with a new version that sounds even better. Yesterday, Pure Music 1.88a was the winner, but today it's this new version of Audirvana. The word that comes to mind regarding its sound quality is "effortless."
  9. Perhaps ver. 1.9, which is scheduled for release in mid-December, will address file handling concerns. From Channel D website: "Additional, significant user-requested feature enhancements are coming in Pure Music 1.9, which we anticipate will be available by mid - December."
  10. Just downloaded the latest Pure Music version. I've done several upgrades to my system lately, and a couple of components may still be breaking in, so it's hard for me to know what's the cause of the changes that I'm hearing. But right now my system is sounding fantastic, so I think the latest Pure Music version is a sonic improvement over the last. Any other impressions?

  12. Grrrr.....theyr'e back for me too. Back to Pure Music until it's sorted out. Looking forward to the new release of PM, supposedly by Friday of next week.
  13. Hey frankty. We have the same DAC! So I started getting hiccups again today after I tried switching from no up-stampeling to 2x up-sampleing. I tried to uninstall Audirvana again and reinstalling it. Still got the hiccups. Then I uninstalled again, reinstalled, THEN I immediately rebooted the computer before actually opening the program for the first time. No more hiccups. Also, not using "integer mode," which is not supported by my DAC.
  14. I don't want to jinx myself either, but I haven't had hiccups for several days now. I have not installed .10.8 yet because for the past few days it hasn't been broken, so I don't want to risk "fixing" it. I took someone's advice and used Clean My Mac to get rid of all past versions, then reinstalled. It worked flawlessly for a couple of days, then I got the hiccups again. Did the uninstall again about 5 days ago, and haven't had the problem since. Keeping my fingers crossed. Using 2010 Mini, 8GB RAM, internal SSD for OS (Mountain Lion)
  15. Thanks for the help re: licensing file. It was there and it worked.
