I have talked on the phone to a service technician at Oppo and he tells me that the new players (including the SE version) will not play any losseless or 24 bit formats. But, he says that the company is thinking about making firmware improvements so that the SE version could act as a DAC for our computer based music files. He said that the company needs to know that there are enough people interested in this, so I have frequently sent them e-mails requesting the upgrade. If all of us who want to use the SE version and its great Sabre DACs wrote to them, it might speed up the change for our benefit.
