1. Hi, I have an original Win 7 CAPS server build from Little Green Computer. I recently upgraded Jriver from 19 to 27. I enabled the WMD setting in Jriver with the objective of streaming Tidal through Jriver to my DAC. I followed the Jriver instructions, checking the option, installing the driver, and restarting Jriver 27. My problem is that when I to Control Panel>Sound I don't see Jriver as an option to choose as default. All i can see is my Meitner DAC. Is this because of WMD has been disabled in the CAPS build of the Windows OS? If so, what do I need to do to turn on WMD? If not, anyone have any experience or suggestions that might help? Thanks in advance!
2. Forgive my ignorance. Am I right to say that this will just plug in to Jriver 19 taking over as the player but leaving Jriver as the library manage and gui? I use a CAPS 2.0 as my server. Thanks
3. I don't think of it as having a "sound" so much as it just seems very transparent and accurate right across the frequency range. It is definitely not warm and does not round the edges of the music making it soft and fuzzy in a tube-like fashion. But nor is it obviously metalic or edgy. Paul says that the diff between the Red and the Jcat cable he builds for Jplay is that the latter has a fuller mid-range. But he says he uses his Red and indeed if you look at the pics on his site of his server build its the Red that proliferates. I am listening to Beth Orton as iI type and am struck by how much deeper into the music and soundstage i can hear relative to the Oyaide cable I was using. I found the Oyaide very good. Paul's Red is just much better.
4. Forgive me if I am late to the party, but I just switched from an Oyaide Continental 5s USB cable to a Paul Pang Red and am loving the improvement in sonics across the frequency range. Deeper, taughter, punchier bass is the most obvious difference. But transparency, clarity, and detail improved across the spectrum. Great cable. I am now intrigued by Paul's other products.
5. Help please. I downloaded the 24/192 version and agree sonics are very good. But I find that stereo imaging just doesn't exist. The horns are all left channel, the drums all right, etc. Is this just the way it is with this recording or am I missing something here? Thanks
6. Help please. I am a classic jazz listener: Davis, Hawkins, Ellington, Hubbard,Stitt, Rollins, etc. Loads of the jazz on qobuz is alien to me...any recommendations? Thanks!
7. I just got mine...only has about 8 hours on it but it already strikes me as a pretty special DAC...now I need some DSD to put through it.
8. Hi Chris, Apologies if i missed this in the comments above, but can the Red Wine Audio power supply be used with the CAPS 2.0?
9. To be clear, that hum is light/faint, but its there.
10. Question. My CAPS 2.0 emits a high pitched hum audible from about 1 - 2 feet from the box and distinct very close to the box. Is this typical and if not, any ideas for what might be going wrong. It was built by small green computer.
11. OK, I found the answer to my question about wifi. But would still love to know what people are using on iPads to control J-river
12. Two noob questions. 1) does the CAPS2.0 have wifi or does it have to be wired to a router/network to be controled by a wireless device such as an iPad and 2) what is the current favorite program to use to control J-river on the CAPS2.0 from an iPad? Thanks very much!
13. Another hugely basic question...I ordered the CAPS 2.0 from smallgreencomputer. Am I right to say that when it arrives I will need to hook up a monitor and keyboard of some sort to active remote access in windows 7 to then be able to use the various remote desktop applications listed above? Also, can I use two differnt remote desktop applications? Thus, one app on an Ipad and another on the Sony Tablet S?
14. Cutting42, basic question, but how does one use a TV as a monitor...I have a Sony Bravia LCD TV? Thanks
15. Chris (or others), in the comments section of the review of the Synology 710+ it was revealed that the 710 cannot output 24bit through USB and the poster of the comment seemed to me to quote Synology as saying that none of their units can output 24bit through USB. Does this limitation apply to the 410 slim as well?

If so, what NAS units can output 24bit through USB and which of these do users prefer?

Thanks
