1. I hear ya! I felt the same way so instead of trying to figure out if I would like the dac based on reviews I tried many dacs either by purchasing used or on a trial basis so I could hear it in my system. Can't wait to hear about how the EMM Labs stacks up in your system.
2. Agreed, I think it would be a interesting comparison. Although I suspect they may sound more alike than different. I have the MSB Dac IV Signature with Signature PS and got to audition a Weiss Medea+. They were both so free of any identifiable characteristic, they were very similar, at least to my ears. I "thought", the MSB had slightly more bass texture and just ever so slightly natural presentation but if there was any difference it was very slight.
3. Absurdly expensive,absurdly good.
4. Hi Catastrofe, Quick question. Is this through the USB or I2S input? As a fellow MSB and Sonore owner, I'm interested in how this works. Thanks!
5. No Problem! I didn't realize you were out of the US. I strongly considered the MSB Transport but when I realized it used the Oppo's music library management, I was very wary and decided against it. Good luck on your music server search.
6. Have you considered the Sonore Music Server? It can be configured to connect to the MSB Dac IV either through USB or the I2S input. Also controllable by IPAD.
7. I won't be satisfied until my music is 24/1152.
8. Thanks for letting me know. I got all excited thinking there was 352.8 or 384 music out there Good idea to run the test based on the test files. I'm going to download those files and test out my unit.
9. Congrats! What music did you have at 24/384 to test out the capability. I have the Dac IV with Sonore as well and would be interested hearing music in 24/384.
10. Just as an example of the ease of use of the Sonore. Last week I had family over and some family members wanted to check out the media room. I told them you just need to select the appropriate icon on the IPAD and they can listen to the system but that I'll show them how its done. Even before I reached the room I heard music playing as they had figured out how to make it work. It's pretty much plug and play with the IPAD. It's really fast, responsive and has an intuitive GUI. The web controlled interface is nice, but having a silent and slim IPAD is much more convenient. If you are contemplating USB vs I2S why not get both? I2S is nice but there seems to be a proliferation of new USB dacs should you change dacs in the future.
11. Hi Chris

Did I just see that you are using the TAD CR1! Did that replace your Verity speakers and your new reference speakers or is it an item in for review? Exciting stuff. Any pictures?
12. I've only compared briefly but after some comparison, the I2S has a slight but distinct advantage. I would describe it as a "cleaner" sound although the USB output is very very good and I could live happily with it.
