  1. I will be getting a new DAC soon. I have need of one that includes a good analog input that allows it to be a full pre-amp as well. Under consideration for various reasons are the Benchmark DAC2, Mytek Brooklyn and the new Audio Alchemy DDR1 with Power Supply. My leanings are with the Audio Alchemy. That power supply is designed to run more than just that DAC and so I was wondering if it could be used to power the Regen, or another USB conditioner such as the one from W4S?
  2. Yes, Gapless playback is working fine for me using Cache.
  3. Gapless playback works fine for me in Playlist Mode. I did several hours of listening last evening without any bugs, glitches, or issues of any kind.
  4. I have never had a problem with the sound quality of Amarra. However, the bugs, glitches and lack of Gapless play made it a music player I have had mixed feelings about. Now I am glad to write that Gapless playback is working fine in Playlist mode for me and I have yet to experience any glitches. Thank you.
  5. But since "Nothing was posted about guessing online" I suggest that now it has been and it may be a good idea as not to influence others.
  6. Maybe I missed the point, but doesn't everyone posting what they think the new version might be compromise the opinions of those yet to listen to it? I thought it was mentioned in earlier posts that these thoughts were to be emailed in directly so that we, here in the forum, would not be influenced by them?
  7. I just installed it a few hours ago and my impressions have been very favorable. I use both Pure Music and Amarra and so far I find Audirvana better than Pure Music through the Halide Bridge into a Benchmark DAC 1/pre. I have not done a side by side with Amarra yet.
  8. I have read negative comments about the user interface. Personally, I like it. In fact I like everything about the player so far. I like the sound of Amarra over that of Pure Music, but prefer the later with it's gapless playback and lack of bugs. My early listening impressions with Audirvana have been very positive. I find the sound is better than that of Pure Music, but I am not sure about Amarra yet.
  9. I just downloaded the program on to my Mac Mini with 10.6 where I currently use Amarra and Pure Music. For some reason the player will only use the internal speakers even though I have the Mac's MIDI set for the Halide Bridge. I tried the Benchmark's USB input as well without success. The other players work just fine. Is there a setting somewhere, or a set up procedure that must be gone through? Thank you, Dave
  10. Sure, I'm for convenience, but not at the expense of good sound. Although both can sound different, I find both to sound very good and each appropriate for different music. I do tend to favor Amarra, but the more I listen to Pure Music the more I appreciate what it can do. And there is something to be said for software that works well and is priced very reasonably. I have quite a few recordings that require gapless playback in order for me to fully enjoy them without distraction. Pure Music allows that to happen. With Amarra I am never quite sure what is going to happen. The real beauty of it is I now have both and I do not need to choose which one to buy, just which one to play a particular recording with. To keep your vinyl analogy going, it isn't that different from having a turntable with twin arms and cartridges mounted and being able to pick between them.
  11. I like the sound of both Amarra and Pure Music. I do find them slightly different from each other, but both enjoyable. My main issues with Amarra begins with the necessity to build Playlists to achieve the best sound. It is just a personal preference, but I don't like that extra step. Add to that the fact that I am still struggling to get gapless play recordings to actually play gapless all the time. On the other hand Pure Music just seems to work as it is supposed to. I am sure that both players will be leapfrogging each other in advancements in the future, but for now, Pure Music is a pure pleasure. Since I already own Amarra and with Pure Music being so inexpensive, it was an easy choice to have both.
  12. I have yet to read an explanation of why version 2.1 does not have Gapless Play in Playlist mode as version 2.0 did. Now 2.0 was not perfect in this regard, but at least it was a step in the right direction to correct this issue. Has 2.1.1 now addressed this? I had been told at the RMAF that this was no longer an issue and 2.1 had delt with it.
