Downloads from Linn to US are Slooowwww...

I noted the same problem, emailed them, they acknowledged the problem and said they are working on it. I tried their new download manager and it is slooowwww!. I use Free Download Manager and its an order of magnitude faster. It's free and it works.!! VFennell -
Petteri Iivonen: Art of the Violin CD 05787 Petteri Iivonen The above recording available from LINN is outstanding sonically and musically. Bob Attiyeh and his associates produce a wonderful rich and vivid sound on their recordings now available by download. They feature primarily young performers of great talent who are recorded brilliantly. Here is a link. http://www.linnrecords.com/label-yarlung-records.aspx Vincent Fennell

I have had this happen 3 times using benchmark usb Dac and Alpha Dac running XP Pro. Some action in the OS does something to lose lock and white noise appears at the speakers. No blown tweeter yet. I'm careful to mute the system now when changing songs, albums, etc. Turn off any background activity like antivirus, internet activity, auto updates, etc. Otherwise you will be buying tweeters. I keep the vol control in my hand almost all the time to hit mute if it happens. It is a real problem and I saw the TAD 1 speakers that had the blown tweeters.

Vince Fennell

Vincent replied to Vincent's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
I have decided it is cheaper to purchase a new inexpensive pc and the Lynx card and dedicate it to music. -

Hi I checked and the Dell has a PC card adapter slot. Will that do it, with the proper Lynx card( Lynx Studio PCI 16e)?? Thanks Vince -

Many thanks, I'll look into that option which seems to be ideal. I don't know a lot about ports but I'll find out what is available on the Dell Thanks -
Hello, I am also new to the forum. I have a Benchmark DAC 1 USB and a Slim Devices Transporter. THe USB output of the Benchmark is limited to 24/96. I want to play the Ref Hrx files. I know that they must be played from a computer hard drive. I have a Dell Laptop. I also understand that REF REc recommends the Lynx interface card. Can that be added to the Dell or do I have to purchase a dedicated pc to use? Many thanks to any knowledgeable person. Vince
