  1. Ok, thanks to Audio_ELF and to Oystein my horizons have expanded... But now I am itching for those CD players with USB input, for playback from PC. Well done. I really had no idea about those existed. Regards
  2. Eloise, I really do wonder which CD player models do have digital input? I do know none? Really looking forward on this one.......maybe I google on it now. Regards
  3. Ok thanks, I see.... You really are helpful and knowledgeable and thanks for it. Obviously, I will not try to attempt any DAC modifications (maybe with really old died cd players), let alone playing with PSUnits. But still, I really can not understand to have only digital outputs, but not inputs on cd players. Yes, you can buy only cd transport and only DAC, thats fine. But why CD players have only digital output, but not input (which standalone DACs have), I simply can not comprehend. I cant sleep over it now
  4. Hi, thanks for your input, but I meant how to MAKE "digital in" input in your present DAC from CD HiFi player? How to "reuse" the present DAC? Most hifi CD players have digital outputs, I want them to have digital inputs. Is it possible to DIY? What is linear PSU? What kind is then "regular" PSU? (I am quite new to electronics......just starting to learn) Thanks a lot
  5. Hi everybody, this is my first post on this forum. I bumped into this forum by googling for "digital in input" for cd players. The situation is clear. As I have Rega Apollo which cost on special deals around £450, I can not find a better sounding DAC in the range of double than that. So if you think, wouldnt be nice to have a sound of rega dac on your pc, coupled with cd, and cd rom which plays mp3(that rega does), or to pay just for external DAC and than to connect my PC and my Rega Appolo so I could play my PC and audio cds with the similar sound quality. So the question is simple, is there any DIY device/job I could apply in my Rega Apollo Cd player, so I reuse rega DAC? I do not mind cutting the case and making holes for extra optical, or coax input. I know there is USB to SPDIF converter so PC to DAC is simple connection, but how to make input in CD player DAC? Anybody can do it? Anybody have done it? Any photos? Any walkthrough DIY tutorial? Thank you all
