  1. ultraRendu is I think a bigger housing with probably/most likely much better heat distribution. oRendu is pretty small. I vaguely remember I was not the only one who noticed the heat coming of the oRendu. It's not that you would burn your hand, but it is/was not comfortable to the touch. And at least with me I had the stability issues (described above) which I assumed were due to the temperature. Applying the heat sink with the consequence of having a fully stable operating oRendu sort of confirmed it to me.
  2. Yep, 7V it is, not 8, not 9. But something must drag current in there, maybe could be the Ayre QB9 USB interface in the end (I have not tested and am not capable of testing it, it is a wild assumption/guess). And the Farad Super 3 is quite capable in delivering. I was in touch with the Farad designer and he guaranteed me that the continuous internal monitoring inside the power supply (PS) would make it go in protection mode if the PS is stressed too much (the PS never went into protection mode). Note that when I bought the oRendu I checked that the Ayre QB9 was in the list of supported DACs.
  3. I use the Farad 7V power supply, which at that time was one of the recommended options. Don't understand me wrong, everything works fine now, but before the heat sink, the oRendu was hanging quite often and would not properly reboot (after disconnect/connect of power supply) before a cool-down of 15 minutes. This could happen several times a day despite running the latest software updates. After the copper heat sink was glued on the housing I didn't get these effects anymore. At one point I thought of abandoning the oRendu, but I'm happy now I didn't.
  4. Heheh, finally! Goodbye and enjoy the music!
  5. I hope it will run less hot when compared to the opticalRendu I have running (driving my Ayre QB9 Twenty). It is the hottest component in my chain and I even glued a heat sink on it for a more stable operation. After that action I was happy and the Rendu more stable, before, not so.
  6. Let's see. Not sure it's going to make much of a splash... Considering the sparse news history on their website, it seems they are pretty busy with patent related issues. If they managed to pick up the IP-assets cheap, maybe they hope to recuperate some of the undisclosed settlement in license fees they had to pay to Sonos. Imagine how "much" they could pick up from all the MQA-CDs that are being/going to be sold Of course all the fancy marketing terms/blur linked to MQA can be recuperated for free (everybody already jumping on it), but I wouldn't bet on MQA 2.0 . And if need be, debunking 2.0 lays in wait...
  7. The Internet archive will help: https://archive.org/web/ For those who are still confused... this is how the "magic" in 2016 "really" worked: https://web.archive.org/web/20160109113132/http://www.mqa.co.uk/customer/how-it-works
  8. @mav52: What is a "normal user"? Approximately 10K euro (in 2012) for amplification only? Also wishing Jake and Ayre all the best. Still enjoying my QB9 (upgraded to Twenty a few years back)!
  9. Curious to see who will take over the IP (as far as still alive), and how long they will keep on paying the renewal fees for the remains: https://register.epo.org/smartSearch?searchMode=smart&query=MQA And for me, MQA is not a dodo. I have too much sympathy for Raphus cucullatus to get it associated with something like MQA ;-)
  10. dEUS - How To Replace It https://open.qobuz.com/album/gbpifsq51f2kc Not a big fan, but this album is really impressive IMHO. And a hell of an opener...

  12. In no particular order (including my favorite album for each band), older + more recent: Clock DVA (Buried Dreams) Trentemoller (The Last Resort) Lulu Rouge (Bless You) Plastikman (Consumed) Coil (Horse Rotorvator) Personally not such a Kraftwerk fan, except for "Live on Radio Bremen 1971", which I adore (and which I would not "classify" under Electronic). And I agree, as said before: too many subgenres to make a selection, hence my "mix".

  14. Hi Chris, Would you mind at least clearly separating in the initial post the Supreme Collection 1500 from other collections (such as the Ayako Hosokawa Collection added now), otherwise it might get tricky in the future distinguishing the different parts of potential different collections. Note that the thread title doesn't reflect other collections, so you may consider creating an additional, separate thread on this new collection.
