  1. As I recall from the days of SACD, one of the main reasons that it failed was that people had just finished converting their record collections to CD at no small expense and then this new format was introduced. People thought it was just a money making scheme to get them to buy new discs and players. There were other reasons of course, but this was probably a big one. Chad
  2. I use one of these on my current DAC and am enjoying it so far. Chad
  3. That's what I got. I ordered the cheaper of the USB cables that Pangea makes. I like their power cords so I thought I'd give the USB cable a try. Chad
  4. The reason I was asking was that I moved my system around and my current USB cable was too long. I didn't have any short cables and thought that if I had to buy a new short cable maybe it should be one of a higher quality. I use TosLink because my DAC won't play anything over 44.1/24 when connected to USB. With TosLink I can play 96/24. I used to have a firewire external hard drive, but it gave up the ghost. Can you still get a hard drive that connects with firewire? Thanks for the replies. Chad
  5. I have an external hard drive connected to my Mac Mini server with a USB cable. I have been wondering if there would be any advantage in using a more expensive USB cable in this application or if the regular Belkin would be fine. I use TosLink going from the Mini to my DAC. If this is adding a whole new level to the cables matter/don't matter argument, I apologize in advance but it's something I've been thinking about. Chad
  6. Thanks for the warning. I wasn't planning on using iTunes and it looks like I won't be using XLD or Max anytime soon if I have to convert the files in batches. Chad
  7. I have decided to convert my server music from ALAC to AIFF. I have tried converting the entire music folder with both XLD and Max but it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a good, easy way to mass convert a large group of files? Thanks, Chad
  8. Sometimes when I use iTunes to start the album the meter at the top of the iTunes window shows sound levels. Audirvana also has the album listed. If I pause the song in iTunes and then start it again in Audirvana then the iTunes meter doesn't show any movement. If the meter is moving, does it mean the the song is also being played in iTunes, or should I not worry about it? Thanks, Chad
  9. Well after deleting all the scripts and iTunes plug ins and downloading the correct version of Audirvana Plus things seem to work fine. So far I haven't had any problems. It is great to be able to use the iTunes remote to run my headless Mini. Chad
  10. I did have the correct version originally. When I deleted it and download it again, I downloaded 1.0.3 I just down loaded the correct version again and am about to try it. Well it seems to work now. I guess deleting the scripts helped. Thanks, Chad
  11. I went back in an deleted all the scripts and plug ins and deleted the preference file. I then rebooted the mac. Now when I use the remote it just loads the files in iTunes not in AP. I also still don't have the "iTunes integrated mode" option. Chad
  12. I uninstalled AP and reinstalled it. Now I can't see "iTunes integrated mode". But like I say, if I play iTunes, it works fine and if I use the script it works fine but if I try to use the remote it loads (for instance) Track 1 twice, Track 3 twice, Track 7 four times, Track 10 seven times. Chad
  13. I can load the files into Audirvana Plus with the LoadInAudirvanaPlus script with no problem. I can play the files in iTunes with no problem. For some reason, even though I have Audirvana Plus turned off, when I try to play with the remote it loads the songs in AP. The last few times it will load selected songs from the album but load them numerous times. I have also had loading errors when trying to use the remote. Chad
  14. I still haven't been able to get the new version to work with the remote. If there is anything I can send you to help you trouble shoot that let me know. Chad
