  1. Since the SD/SDV3100 now support PCM up to 768kHz it means you switched to AKM from BB; is it the AK4497 or the very new AK4499? Also since you don't use the chip built in digital filters, do you upsample the signal in the DSP to 705.6/768kHz?
  2. @julian.david I'm interested in getting an MC-6 SRCer to use as an upsampler in order to potentially improve the digital filtering ahead of the DAC. Couldn't find much technical details about the inner workings of the unit on the Mutec website so could you share some of them? Is the SRC done on a FPGA or is some IC emplyed like the TI SRC4392 or the AKM AK4127VF? Is the digital filter linear or minimum phase? What is the passband and stopband attenuation of the filter? Can you select an upsampling ratio for synchronous upsampling or just set a single sample rate for the output at which the input signal will be converted?
  3. Pro-Ject DAC Box S2+ or Pre Box S2 Digital, both with the ES9038K2M https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/dac-box-s2/ https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/pre-box-s2-digital/
  4. It's not clear to me if you're talking about the output of the AK4490 DAC chip or about the RME DAC as a whole; so you're saying that the RME's analog reconstruction filter doesn't remove these images?
  5. Is this with the Sharp, Slow or NOS/Super Slow filter?
  6. Yes, downsample for a DAC that doesn't support the DXD rate. Using the DXD rate makes it easy to get a bandwidth limited signal out of the ADC. The Chord's upcoming Davina ADC will support output rates up to 768kHz.
  7. Recording in DXD allows 0 output at FS/2; then you can use iZotope to downsample which can offer over 250 dB of attenuation at FS/2.
  8. DAC3 available now with ES9028Pro chip. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/dac3-introducing-the-new-es9028pro-converter
  9. No idea if Axiss started importing the DP/DC-950 duo for dealer demos, you should check with them, but I'm sure they're available for customer orders. Dp950+dc950 - Page 4 - AudioAficionado.org
  10. The T+A DAC8 DSD has an analog volume control of discreet resistors which might be preferable to digital attenuators in other converters if you plan on driving the amp direct. You could also try importing the Chord DAVE from the UK as it has a universal voltage PSU, the price (including duty and shipping) will be under $10k this way.
  11. Would be interesting how the QX-5 compares to the Accuphase DC-950 (also ES9038Pro based, US$12.5k in Japan). Accuphase Laboratory, Inc. DC-950
