  1. I am sure that somebody out there has compared these two. Please share your experience with me.
  2. Chris concluded that the coax input to the Nova from the Asus sound card sounded best. Is there anybody else out there who has compared onboard digital to sound card digital?
  3. Has anybody compared onboard digital from the motherboard against digital from a sound card such as the Asus Xonar Essence STX? I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and plan on sending the onboard digital to a Peachtree Nova. I am wondering if their will be a significant improvement by getting a Asus Xonar Essence STX and sending digital out through that. Thanks!
  4. I am going to buy a DAC and it looks like the Peachtree Nova will be the one. I currently have a Rogue Cronus. I am wondering if I can replace the Rogue with the Nova or if I should keep both and just use the Nova as a DAC. I know that my ears will make the finally decision but until then I was curious if anybody had heard both of these and cared to compare them as amplifiers.
  5. Thanks for all the input. Keep it coming.
  6. Dynobot, I appreciate your perspectives regarding the insignificance of connection methods and importance of system synergy. I guess my problem is that there are a lot of DACs out there and so I am trying to shrink the pool down to a group of highly recommended ones that have the features I am looking for. I look forward to more suggestions. Mike
  7. Hi, I am in the process of building a computer music server and I am currently looking for a good DAC. My current setup consists of an Arcam CD17, Rogue Cronus, and Paradigm Studio 100s. I am going to replace the CD17 with a computer. Here is what I know so far: - Asynchronous USB is the best connection method. - Firewire is also a good connection method as it is inherently asynchronous. - Adaptive USB and S/PDIF (coaxial or optical) are not as good due to jitter issues. - The analog stage and power system of any DAC are as, if not more, important as the digital interface. Here are my requirements/desires: - High quality sound, at least on par with the CD17. - Support for higher resolution audio, preferably 24/192KHz. - Inputs for other digital sources (coaxial, optical) would be nice. - Around $1000. - Oh, and a remote would be nice. So if you were in my situation what DAC would you get? Thanks, Mike
